Yes, I frequently use muslin. My hand quilting is by no means perfect but it's not bad either but who's going to take the quilt off my bed and search for a mistake or two on the back? All quilts just can't be heirlooms. I make practical quilts for my family and self and everyone seems genuinely delighted with the results.

ditto .. those early quilts were like comforters and not quilts

I use bed sheets on some of my quilts but do use muslin on smaller stuff like table covers and wall hangings.

I've used muslin as backing on several quilts and it did fine. I don't buy the cheaper thin stuff but try to wait until I can get the better grade of it on sale.

I use all the time

Yes, I have used muslin. Another idea that is catching on is making reversible quilts which saves on batting and thread for quilting or paying someone to quilt it for you.

I use muslin on many of my quilts. I like the look. Use prints on baby quilts and quilts that will be auction by the volunteer fire departments I donate them to.

I'm feeling really stupid here. How do you make a reversible quilt without quilting to hold it together and how does it save on batting? Help!

I LOVE the way the stitches look on the back! I am starting to use the "almost solids" so I can see the stitches. Even if they aren't the greatest, they are made with love!
