What is a fancy pattern?

Most of mine are simple blocks as they are donated I need to finish them quickly, they only need to be bright and cheerful. :-D

I keep it simple nothing too complicated.

Both. I especially like to try a new technique or pattern or tool whilst doing it.

I also do all types of quilting....depends on what I'm doing and what I'm trying to create. Keeps the juices flowing and creates great artistic license.

I guess that depends on your definition of 'fancy'
I got pretty involved in making quilts for the winners at a class at our Basenji National. I kind of stopped doing that, but I got a call the other day from a guy that was friends with somone who a few years ago, won one, and he wanted to buy one! I'm halfway considering making one, with the buyer making a donation to basenji rescue as payment, because I do have all of this fabric in my stach that I intended to use for such things... going to have to work this out with the rescue. It's knid of nice to know they're still wanted. I don't know if they are 'fancy' or not, but I do know they are unique. this was made for the winner of the lure coursing class |
I like plain and fancy. I've been quilting for more than 40 years and I enjoy both plain and fancy, both hand sewing and machine piecing, both hand quilting and longarm quilting. I love it all.
Sometimes I just need some mindless sewing. Sometimes I need a quick quilt. Sometimes I want to make an heirloom quilt or a special quilt. It's all good! |
It's not that my quilts are "fancy" but I do like to try new blocks and new patterns just to challenge myself. I also make my blocks a little smaller now because over the years my acuracy has improved (lots of practice!).

Both! I do easy quilts for the baby quilts I do because I want them well loved not put away. I have done an applique quilt that took two years because it was all done by hand plus pieced quilts with lots of hand quilting. Am now doing more machine quilting as my hands mature(haha)
