I am trying to make a small quilt for a cat. Do these two borders look okay? The focus fabric is sort of whimsical, and this border arrangement makes it look serious.

blueangel 09-14-2011 07:01 PM

Looks good to me.

auntpiggylpn 09-14-2011 07:01 PM

Are you really making this quilt for a cat? or a cat lover?

leiladylei54 09-14-2011 07:01 PM

Yes, I think it's fine....like it.

Susie Quilter 09-14-2011 07:01 PM

Looks good to me also.

Moonglow 09-14-2011 07:02 PM

The border choice is perfect. Anything else wouldn't look as sharp.

Dina 09-14-2011 07:04 PM

Oh, it is for a cat, a cat lover's cat. I made one for a friend's cat, and suddenly all my cat lovers want one for their cats. :) It is a good way to play with a block. I just figured out....with a lot of help from folks here...how to get my focus fabric to all be "facing the same way."

auntpiggylpn 09-14-2011 07:06 PM

you did a fantastic job! It is very pretty!

mtnative 09-14-2011 07:17 PM

Lady Crafter 09-14-2011 08:16 PM

Great choice. Cute fabric.

Teddybear Lady 09-14-2011 08:16 PM

Cute "kitty" fabric.

Quiltmaniac2010 09-14-2011 08:20 PM

My quilt supervisor gave it the nod! Lovely quilt. I love the borders.

peggy119 09-14-2011 08:20 PM

I am glad to know I am not alone!! I make quilt for all my dogs and then when they had puppies, all puppies left with their own quilt and the scent of their litter mates. My oldest dog (12) carries her quilt to bed at night!!

Also, love the borders on there!

Yes, the black border makes the black blocks stand out and emphasizes the colors. Wouldn't change it. Makes for a nice frame for the quilt too. Nice Job!

sewNso 09-14-2011 10:58 PM

if any cat tells you they don't like it, send them to the pound.

k3n 09-15-2011 12:04 AM

No, it doesn't look 'okay'............................................ .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ..........................

alikat110 09-15-2011 03:28 AM

Exactly what I would do!!!

Mickie612 09-15-2011 03:34 AM

I think it is adorable. Someone asked Do you really mean for a cat? Of course you make quilts for your cat. Our cats love their quilts. Saves cat hair on the furniture.

Ask the cat.

That is a cute quilt!
Glad to see I am not the only one who has made quilts for cats. I made my little Allie one for Christmas last year but she doesn't sit on it - she sits on my other projects!

FirstQuilt 09-15-2011 03:45 AM

There's a person on Ravelry (knitting site) who knits catty mats, and she says that cats can see red. So lots of red in your quilt is a good thing!

laurafet 09-15-2011 03:49 AM

Love that.

3incollege 09-15-2011 03:52 AM

I think the cat will love it.

cmagee84 09-15-2011 04:02 AM

I made a small quilt for our dog, why not for a cat! Of course she thinks any blanket lying anywhere belongs to her anyway! :)

Dina 09-15-2011 04:18 AM

Thanks, fellow quilters. I have enough blocks made that it looks like I will have 3 cat quilts. Sure wanted to select the right borders.

quilter68 09-15-2011 04:22 AM

The borders are just fine and the quilt is adorable!

Leota 09-15-2011 04:24 AM

Have you ever tried washing a chair? Quilts are much easier to wash.
I was going to make my daughter's new kitten (found in my flower bed) a quilt for her to go home in... not going to happen as dd will be here in two days to pick said kitten up and take her home... Welll... now that I think about it... I could just sew some pre- cut two by two squares together... nah... I don't care for scrappy quilts... lol... kitty will have to wait for her quilt...

kuntryquilter 09-15-2011 04:25 AM

I love it and I love cats. They are less trouble than dogs.
Now don't all you dog lovers come down on me. I like dogs also. I baby sit my daughters dog every year for 3 months, while they go to the Florida Keys.
