The dizzy affect is a simple lack of focal point issue. Someone already suggested adding appliqué spots (dots, flowers, anything small but popping, circular shapes also grab the eye) to a couple areas inside the pattern and that would fix it best. You could also use line when you're quilting to give the eye a path to follow. A spiral from the center would change dizzying to flowing movement. I would also add some decorative quilting or appliqué to the border area so it isn't so starkly empty beyond the rectangle of your design.

I like it and it doesn't make me feel dizzy at all, just happy, with all those cheerful fabrics.
|
I like it very bright.

I too, suffer from motion sickness & have all my life, but this quilt does NOT make me dizzy. I quite like it & really like your diverse colour scheme with purple being the anchor. Keep up the good work.

Does it count if I was 'dizzy' before I looked at your quilt
|
I have seen quilts that make me dizzy but yours doesn't. I looked at it a long time and all was well. I love your quilt with all the beautiful colors.

I think it resembles an abstract painting. It's beautiful! Love your choice of borders, by the way!

Not me. I love it!

No dizziness here, and with double vision, I often experience dizziness when looking at things.
I really like it; I love bandana prints! What is the pattern name? |
Your post makes me wonder whether you have color 'challenges' like I do. Like you, too many different fabrics in a quilt is un-enjoyable for me. But I am 'profoundly' color blind, and some of the colors in the fabrics just fade away while I'm trying to piece the quilt with it. Most of the quilts I make use 2 - 5 fabric quilts, which seems to be where my niche.

Maybe a little dizzy, but only if you mention it! Wonderful work.

[QUOTE=Dina;6924161]It is called a puzzle quilt. It is "supposed" to be made from 9 fat quarters. As far as I know, my sister created the pattern. I learned it from a workshop she taught. I have the pattern on my computer, and if you PM me with your email address, I will send it to you.

It did not make me dizz. I love it and think your choice of colors is awesome.
|
It is the motion illusion created by the bandanas that cause the feeling of dizziness. Personally I love the quilt.
|
Not dizzy here--love the colors and the blocks.
