Well I just tried the start/stop and compared it with the pedal.
Did that twice just to be sure. I don't see any difference. When you use the start/stop, it will go at the speed you set it at but when you use the pedal you can go up to the speed you set it. If you floor it at the highest speed it's equal to the start/stop at its highest speed. |

If you are wishing that machine stitched a bit slower when you are using your foot pedal, here is something that you can try - turn your foot pedal around 180 degrees, so that your foot touches only the upper edge of the pedal (which would normally be the "back" of the foot pedal) - this can make it easier to depress the pedal only a small amount and get a slower speed.

I have never used the "start/stop" button. One thing you might want to look at is the speed you have your machine set at to use the pedal. I love my Janome 6600 and have not had any trouble with sewing speed. Good luck

I’m with EasyPeazy...when I purchased the Janome 8900 a couple of years ago, I couldn’t part with my 6600. It’s a work horse. Thanks for the speed test EP. I use the start/stop button from time to time but always adjust the speed when I need to.

I have a 6600, my favorite machine. I also have an upgraded Janome but I prefer my 6600. I can't get the hang of using the start stop button. I think you just need to get used to putting the right pressure on the foot pedal.

I had my 6600 for 2yrs before I realized that it had a way to use it besides the foot pedal.;)
