I don't know why he wouldn't like it, it's great. You can send it to me, because I love it.

what a stinker!

mtspools 08-18-2011 04:53 PM

AWWW -- IT is cute

Cybrarian 08-18-2011 04:59 PM

I think it's great, and very masculine. Don't know what his deal is, but my husband wants you to know he thinks you did a wonderful job and he wants you to find someone else who will appreciate the work you put into it and give it to him/her! [He's a carpenter/woodworker/teacher and he understands the work that goes into handcrafted gifts].

RenaB 08-18-2011 05:04 PM

What did he not like about it, the design or that fact it was quilted?

bobbie1 08-18-2011 05:14 PM

I think it is very nice.

quilter711 08-18-2011 05:15 PM

He just wanted the cat in your avatar in the quilt with the dog. Just add the cat!! lol

Wow! Really cute. I'm sorry your husband does not appreciate your hard work. I know I would never make another item for him!

Oh well, now you know not to waste your time on making him anything. I have a DGS that would love it. He had a dog looked just like your picture...

4dogs 08-18-2011 07:39 PM

I love your doggy wall hanging......... I just wouldnt make anything else for him, and if he ever asks WHY, then you tell him! My hubby says he thinks it is wonderful!

Sewfine 08-18-2011 08:40 PM

I think it is pretty. Men just don't understand.

caliquocat 08-18-2011 11:02 PM

I think it's a darn cute little fella on your quilt. Your husband is a grouch! I know I'd remember this for next time he makes something. Then, burst his bubble!

Thusnelda 08-18-2011 11:12 PM

I'd rather someone was honest than gush over something he or she didn't really like. Of course it's always a question of how this message is delivered. But tastes are different and are supposed to be different. Someone has no obligation to like something just because it has been given to him or her. It might be hurtful to receive such a response but at least it's honest. I value honesty.

emsgranny 08-18-2011 11:14 PM

I think its beautiful especially the eyes!! Maybe he thinks the dog is looking at him lol

SueDor 08-19-2011 01:55 AM

So why didn't he like it? What was wrong with it?

lizzy 08-19-2011 02:09 AM

He just doesn't see the beauty in the work. Great job on the dog. I love it!

tmg 08-19-2011 03:07 AM

At least he was honest with you. I like it.

Boxer mom 08-19-2011 03:12 AM

I would hang it on the wall so he has to see it every day just to irratate him...lol

DebsShelties 08-19-2011 03:14 AM

Shame on him, it's a wonderful piece

quilter68 08-19-2011 04:22 AM

There has to be more to this story. Is that a dog that is known? Did the dog die? What is the story?

Is this a joke?

grumpy90650 08-19-2011 05:18 AM

look at it this way...he loves you enough to be honest, which is very important in a solid relationship......perhaps you could give it to someone else, or donate it.....BTW, it is a lovely wall hanging!!

AprilG 08-19-2011 05:43 AM

There's no accounting for taste, however, we do know he had good taste once. He married a quilter, YOU! I love it. That dog must have been hard. Is it applique? By hand?

ontheriver 08-19-2011 05:49 AM

I'm sorry he didn't like it. I know from experience that it hurts your feelings, especially if it is someone close. I think it is great and would love to receive it. If it were my hubby he would not get anything else I made, would go to the bottom of the gifting list, LOL.

jpthequilter 08-19-2011 05:50 AM

Oh dear. pictorial quilts are so iffy....because they involve personal likes and dislikes.
Did you ask if he dis-liked the border fabric, or the dog's head?
....or the whole idea, before you made it?

It probably is a one time thing.
He probably likes other quilts you have made.
He won't mind if you give it to someone else, thankfully.

I myself do not care for animal heads or peoples face portraits very much because a good photo - another media-
does a better job, but I absolutely love all kinds of other quilting projects.

mhansen6 08-19-2011 06:02 AM

I am so sorry about your husband. I think the wall hanging is lovely.

Homemother 08-19-2011 06:06 AM

That's really nice!!! I'm so sorry he didn't like it. Men. Sometimes they don't understand good taste. Giggle - I hope you gave him a hard time about it!

I made a boxer for my sister. I showed it to my dad and my brother and they both said, "oh." When I gave it to my sister, I told her to tell me she loved it whether she didn't or not and I told her the response of the men in my family. (So I wasn't big enough to take the truth. I needed some positive expression.) She made a huge fuss all over it and made compliments on what I did. She told me all the ways she could use it.

I think she was genuinely tickled to have it especially with the dedication I put on the label.
