It's like Christmas when I change a blade- a gift to myself with easier cutting!!
Yes, and I'm hoping I remember to change next time, right away, instead of ruining all the fun of cutting! I did notice my last blade, an Olfa, lasted "forever" and that really made it fun too! I even used it for paper gasp! because i figured "it must be ready to change by now" but it wasn't. I went back and finished another project with it.

YES! I procrastinate on this all the time and then wonder why...
Someone just reminded me of L.P. Sharp (lpsharp.com), who's got great pricing in new and recycled generic and Olfa blades. I was gifted with a bunch of blades, but am down to my last 10, so it may be time to check him out again. I remember getting good service... |
Yes - it is just like Christmas morning! I am guilty of waiting too long to change mine also. I realize that they are not cheap but honestly if I put it into perspective it really is not the most costly part of quilting. So I am just asking for blades this Christmas and if I have a bunch maybe I will be better about changing them!!

I am a really penny pincher so keep my blades (and needles) way to long. I just changed my blade last week and was surprised how much nicer it was to cut again. I hope I remember to change the blade more often.
I too am a penny pincher, I will use a mop or a broom until there are maybe 20 strands left on it, I get a lot of flack from my daughter about this but I figure I'm saving money for something else needed more like...Fabric!!

Oh my, oh my! I need to do this but can't find my extras (they are hidden somewhere). Guess I'll have to make a trip to Harbour Freight….
I changed blades and still didn't get good cuts. I came to realize I'd need a new mat too if I wanted the cuts to be great. My mat has lots of cuts in it.
My mat has alot of cuts in it also. I used a scrubbie on it and soaked it and nothing got any better.it is a OLFA and is supposed to be self healing. Does anyone have directions how to heal the mat? Changing blades do not seem to help.
I 'very got to get over being "too cheap to change". I really like the date labeling idea. What about size - does that affect frequency of changing? I use a 45mm; if you use a 60mm, do you need to change less frequently?
