I like #2 - maybe its just more traditional - I just like the way it looks - I agree - it doesn't matter which layout because it will be beautiful either way.
I like the second one the best, but both are nice.
I like #1 better, but they are both nice.
i like the 2nd one. The dark blue gives it more depth
I know I am a little late but I like number one.
Definitely number 2... there is more contrast between the large sold white area with the darker blue on the outside of the chain. I think the chain gets lost with the darker blue on the inside and the floral on the outside.
Like the 1st better - but either will be pretty.
I like the first one best, because I like how the fabrics blend from darkest to lighter to lightest.
I prefer the second one, it seems to make the floral stand out more, and the chain flows better.
I like the first one better.
I prefer the first arrangement as the other one looks more staid and 'blocky'.
Of the blue I find number one more pleasing to my eyes, but I really do love both of your quilts. Sandy
I like the first one
I like both of them really, glad the choice is yours at the end.
I like the first one...it appeals to my eyes more but both are nice.
I like the first one because in the second one my eyes "go all over the place." The darker squares seem to keep my eyes focused on the chain.
I like number 2
I like them both. I agree with Wildyard. If it is for a female #1 has a softer look and if it is for a male #2 has the true Irish Chain look. Whatever you pick, it will be beautiful!
There both very pretty, but, the 2nd one seems to stand out more.
The first one looks softer and more "blendy". The second one is harder and crisper. Depends what kind of look you are going for. I think I like the first one best...
Both are lovely. It's going to be a beautiful quilt but I'm leaning toward #1. I like the flow better to the center flower.
I find it easier to see and enjoy the pattern in the first block.
I agree with DogHouseMom. Had to look at it a few times to see why the first one was more pleasing to me, but it is because it opens the quilt up, in my eyes anyway.
I like the 2nd one, but after reading the posts, the 1st one does draw the eyes to the floral
OK I am , read all the post so I went back to take another look. My first thought was #1 after looking again I liked the solid look of #2. So I will go with whatever you have deceided. Is that a cop out? They both look very pretty and you will have a beautiful quilt when finished. Main thing is you were able to get all the fabric you needed. Kudos to the clerk who remembered the fabric. Good luck with the project. BrendaK

I like the first one the best. It is going to be beautiful!
I like your first one the best. and your roommate is right also the 2nd one of hers is absolutely the best
I like the second one better.
I like them both, but I think I like the second one better. It seems to be more uniform or something. Can't quite put my finger on it. But, I love your choice of fabrics. Beautiful!
#1 has a more movement. But there both beautiful.
I like the second one.
Both would be beautiful. The first version reminds me of lace, while the second version looks more solid.

I am posting two sample blocks for feedback, please. They are not sewn, just stuck up on the design wall, so we can decide which way to go here. Thanks!

Love the IRISH one but my favorite is the blue... Really nice.
I love Irish Chain quilts and yours will be beautiful whichever way you decide. That said, I really like the more traditional look of #2.
I prefer #2
I like them both but #2 gives better definition I think.
I vote for #1, just cuz I think it showa off the center block better. Both are pretty though. How can it be anything but pretty,"ITS BLUE"
I vote for #1.

Either way it's going to be very pretty! |
