Thank you everyone. I didn't know anyone had answered me. I'm still trying ti find my way around this forum. Where do you go to find your post?

I just use the large wooden beads. They are usually available in any craft department.

I've seen some people sew a little corner piece (like a prairie point) in the top two corners of a wallhanging and then slip the dowel in them.

To find any thread you are interested in type the key phrase ("dowel endings" in this case) into the little blank at the top right of any page, hit return, and it will send you to the right page or to a list.

I too use wooden beads , I purchase by the bag at Micheals. Micheals also has a section of assorted wood items that are unfinished, I find interesting stuff there for the ends of dowels.

Thanks everyone, and thank you Sierra for that info.

Hi Margie,
If you click on your name, view your profile box will come up. Click on it and on the left hand side there will be different choices you can click on. Click on the one that says find latest started threads for ones you started, or find latest posts for the ones you commented on and wish to return to.

I make my sleeves and dowels about an inch or two shorter than the quilt, so the ends of the dowels don't show at all. I usually screw a small eye bolt in each end and that's how I hang my quilts. I have not hung large, heavy quilts this way, just wall hangings.

If you click on "settings" in the upper right corner, it will bring up a list of threads you are "subscribed" to. When you start a thread, or reply to a thread, you are automatically subscribed to it, and it will show up there if there has been activity.

You can buy the wooden balls with the hole in them at Hobby Lobby and Michaels in the unfinished wood section.

Michaels and Hobby Lobby both have a lot of small wooden items that work on the end of dowels, you can paint or stain them if you want.
