I bought my new Janome Horizon today and it is fantastic. What can I say? It has so many stitches and so much more than my Janome 6500. I played with it tonight and love it. I am thrilled.

Jingle 05-19-2010 05:24 AM

Wow. Good for you, you will be able to make lots of pretties.

canmitch1971 05-19-2010 09:38 AM

I am just going to keep on working on my block of the month for now. I was just playing with it a bit again just now and I am thrilled. They have improved some of the things that bugged me with the 6500 like the knee pedal to raise and lower the foot is now adjustable. My knee did not reach it before until my husband improvised it. There are so many more stitches and different things you can do with it. I am still learning. The lady who owns the LQS where I got it is getting one too in a couple of weeks. When she gets hers, she will give me a better lesson on it once she gets to know hers better. There is a video tape to watch also.

My SIW and I both tried to check this machine out. No dealers close so we called. They are not allowed to tell us the price. I am guessing at about $11000. Would you mind telling us . NO sense getting all worked up and going to travel to see it is we can't afford it

Have fun with yours and happy for you too

MSRP is $2999. My dealer has given me a good deal in trading in my 6600 for the Horizon. I'm just sitting and twiddling my thumbs waiting for it to come in. Can't wait to get my hands on my new "baby". Heard nothing but rave reviews from all new owners.

mswordwiz 05-21-2010 07:18 AM

I love my Horizon as well, and I sold my 6600P to get it.

Ritzquilts 05-21-2010 08:03 AM

Oh have fun and Congrats

jigsymom 05-21-2010 08:12 AM

Congrats! on the new machine. I just looked at it last saturday and love it. I would love one too but I just think its alot more machine than I would ever need. I am thinking about one of the other quilting machines they make. Any suggestions? The stopperer for me is the price. almost 3 thousand dollars is just too much.

Enjoy that machine and yes we all want to see your latest project.

Canmitch1971, I have the Janome 6600 and I just posted on the Janome yahoo group that I can't reach my knee lift at all, unless I totally shift my body. How did your husband improvise it? Thanks, Sarah in CA

Marlet, Is it too bold of me to ask what your dealer gave you for trading in your 6600 for the Horizon? I have a 6600 that I just purchase in October 2009,but am thinking of the Horizon (one reason being the adjustable knee lift, among other new features). If you prefer not to say, that's okay. Mary Bird 05-21-2010 11:30 AM

So glad to hear you love the new Horizon! I've got one on order.

Mary Bird 05-21-2010 11:32 AM

Anyone in the IL, IN area should check with Threads of Time in Danville IL. Their price is regular retail, plus you get a table or a lightweight machine for classes! Can't beat their service, either.

MNQuilter 05-21-2010 11:38 AM

I'm glad to hear people are trading in their 6600's! I want one and if I can get a used one for cheaper, I may just get it sooner than hubby says! I would love the Horizon but Dh just about had a heart attack ove rthe price of a 6600 so I know he wouldn't go for the Horizon. His comment was that it better cut and sew the fabric by itself! :0)

CarolinePaj 05-21-2010 11:38 AM

Hi Canmitch

Congratulations and many happy stitching hours....!!!!!!!

My Horizon arrived last Friday... can't believe she has been here a whole week and I have only had one very short play with her....(shows how unwell I have been).

I have the Janome 4900 and the Horizon seems to be a lot smoother and quieter..... but how are you liking that throat!!!!!

Hugs

Caroline

Hi Sarah My husband just bent it until I could reach it.

canmitch1971 05-21-2010 06:13 PM

BTW I paid $2499 for the Horizon

BellaBoo 05-21-2010 06:20 PM

I think it's stupid to not let the price be told or known. When I was looking for my new machine several years ago I ran into the same thing. I was calling the machine dealers asking the price of what I wanted with no trade in before I drove miles out of my way to the shop. Only one gave me a price over the phone so that is the one I bought from and it was the furtherest one from me! She said she never heard of not being able to quote her prices, said it was frowned upon because the customer may be convinced to buy up once in the shop. I bought two machines from her that day. One for me and one for my DD. And stopped at three shops I passed on the way that wouldn't give me the price and showed them I bought two machines NOT from them and why. I have a mean streak like that.

galvestonangel 05-21-2010 06:59 PM

I am so jealous, but I'm happy for you.
