Dresden Plate Border choice

2 Attachment(s)
I can't decide which border fabric to use for this lap quilt that I made out of bandana fabric. What do you guys think?

Thanks for all your help. :)

Yellow it just makes it so happy and the plates are highlighted.

Love the bandana's

alikat110 03-20-2014 06:47 PM

Yellow!!!!!

RST 03-20-2014 06:51 PM

Yellow.

Like it

dunster 03-20-2014 06:59 PM

I like the dark one better, but I like the yellow too. How would it look with a yellow border around the white - maybe twice as wide as the red border - and then the dark?

Jackie Spencer 03-20-2014 07:06 PM

I like dunsters idea, cute quilt!!

NanaInVirginia 03-20-2014 07:12 PM

I think it needs the double border also. It's got a lot going on in the body of the quilt top so I think the border needs to be more than just one plain old border.

joyce888 03-20-2014 07:14 PM

Yellow is a very strong color but the print does match the plates. The dark navy is more gender neutral. I think it would depend on who the quilt is for. Personally I like the navy.

My first vote is for a double border, but if you do just one then yellow wins.

I agree , the double border would be my first choice. Using both colors gives a more blended look that does not over power the blocks. I would use the yellow for the border closest to the blocks, then the blue.

I like the idea of the double border too. I must say I love this quilt.

Just exactly what I was thinking when I saw the pictures! The eye draws all the colors outward with the yellow included in the border.

Greeter Eva 03-20-2014 10:41 PM

I love the dark one too. Maybe a narrow yellow, & then the dark wide border.

DOTTYMO 03-20-2014 11:35 PM

All colours. Can you remember that baby quilt and the quilter had made the corners by using the fan shapes and having pointed side out. Will see if I can find thread or if someone else remembers it was beautiful.

annt59 03-21-2014 12:02 AM

I like the yellow.

DOTTYMO 03-21-2014 12:08 AM

Ld look fantastic .http://pinkpincushion.blogspot.co.uk...-baby.html?m=1

Zinda 03-21-2014 12:17 AM

I like a small yellow border and a larger navy border.

leatheflea 03-21-2014 12:29 AM

I too, like Dunsters idea. The yellow gives some brightness and the dark gives a "frame".

jetayre 03-21-2014 04:34 AM

Go navy~~~~~

Quilter 65 03-21-2014 06:18 AM

What a beautiful quilt and neat idea to use bandannas. Very nice. Like the matted border approach, narrow, slightly wider and the finish border. The yellow border really pops the yellow out of the blocks.

tessagin 03-21-2014 06:22 AM

Hard to choose which one and I thought the same.

Navy - the yellow would be too much for me to look at everyday. (but it also looks good - just a personal preference)

JoyceHoopes 03-21-2014 06:26 AM

I prefer the navy as well. But then I'm one who has problems using yellow. Your blocks are really cute. Is the quilt for a child? That might influence my choices and the double border adds the best of both. Joyce in DE

nygal 03-21-2014 06:38 AM

I love the yellow one.

FroggyinTexas 03-21-2014 06:40 AM

Narrow yellow border, wider dark border to provide a frame. froggyintexas

beaglelady 03-21-2014 06:47 AM

Love your quilt - those ducks in the centre of the circles are too cute! I like both fabrics for the border but would probably go with the darker border if it was my quilt.

Sande 03-21-2014 06:53 AM

The quilt is for my older sister. She was a hippy back in the day and the duck in the center circle is an in side joke. The name for this quilt is "Duck Paisley Power". I really like the yellow so I'm going with suggestions to have yellow narrow border then the navy paisley in a wider boarder. Will probably finish with red binding. I'll post photos when I'm finished.

Thanks for all the amazing suggestions.

BrendaK 03-21-2014 06:58 AM

I have been wanting to make a bandana quilt and I love this one. I also like the yellow. The chicks in the center are really cute. Finished reading all the posts and see that you have made a decision. This sounds really good. Can't wait to see the end results. BrendaK

I like the blue. It tames it down a little.

PenniF 03-21-2014 10:47 AM

Not trying to cop out...but i agree with some of the others.....a double border using both .....

nativetexan 03-21-2014 11:02 AM

Oh I didn't see this one before, the yellow by all means. Very nice!!

QuiltnNan 03-21-2014 12:24 PM

i prefer the darker border

ILoveToQuilt 03-21-2014 12:39 PM

Narrow yellow....then wider navy.

I like the navy. For me, it makes the duckies stand out more....

Yellow flange would be nice tho.

LOVE the quilt. LOOOOOVE the duckies :).

kathyquilts40 03-22-2014 03:32 AM

Yes. I like your final choice for the quilt you are making for your sister. Post a picture when you get it finished.

marsharini 03-22-2014 03:47 AM

Both look great (I know - no help), but I love love love your Dresdens.

BettyGee 03-22-2014 04:39 AM

I like the blue, it lets your gorgeous Dresdens shine by framing it and drawing the eye to the plates. The yellow is very pretty, but in this case I don't think it fits. But hey what do I know?
