I don't dare laugh or it will happen to me! Black-on-black needs very good lighting, glasses on face, and freshness (not late afternoon or evening work)!
|
We learn from our mistakes - I'm sure you won't do that again. Joanne's has Ott lights on sale now and then. Mine has made a world of difference!

Oh boy! I thought it was tough tearing out seams in blocks I had sewn wrong but a whole binding thats rough.
One time I cut off all my points to square up blocks then found out it is better to use the off size and make adjustments to the rest of the pattern. |
Just one of those days. I was making a baby quilt last week using the flip and sew method and my first block I made without the backing...it went downhill from there and I ripped out as much as I put in. Finally put the thing down, had a little fit and left the room! It just happens.

Been ther, done that!

The only thing that comes close is when I was "just" going to finish that one square before calling it a night, and when the square didn't fit, I quickly cut it to size. .....Did I move it OFF the quilting squares that were DONE and the were SQUARE? No - wonderquilter here didn't need to use any precautions - wonderquilter had to redo a bunch of squares coz I cut right through the stack. Homer moment: DUH! DUH! DUH!
Common theme: being tired. Not a good cutting/sewing/quilting time. |
Oh yes, we all have our days. I was doing a paper pieced block the other day and didn't tuck the fabric under when trimming the extra. I cut my piece right off! I was kind of ticked off when it happened. But must admit I laughed hysterically when I did it a 2nd time. A while back I was appliqueing hearts for a baby quilt. I was trying to work assembly line and when I picked up a set to iron, I didn't realize I had another one clinging to the underside. Also didn't realize it the next 2 times...I have 3 heart applique shapes outlined on my ironing pad! LOL
I have such little time to work on my sewing that I hate to stop when I'm tired, even when it's probably better to do so. :) |
I always make mistakes when I'm tired and I definitely should not cut out pieces when it's late. If I do I always have to go back to the shop and buy more fabric to replace what I messed up. This summer I took a great class from Jane Sassaman. We were doing fusible applique and, after stitching aroung the applique, she had us trim out the fabric from underneath to remove some of the weight. Well, I was talking and was in the process of trimming out the applique from the front when I caught myself. I was able to remove and readjust the pieces so it worked out, but you know how I felt!!  I think I'm the queen of "I knew better" mistakes. :!:

Dumbest thing I ever did was to stipple my bathrobe sleeve to the back of a quilt! Had about a good 12" done, too!
|
OH MY GOSH!!! That's really good. With my luck that would be the best stippling I ever did, and it would be wasted
