Get the shot! lol I did for several years. I was allergic to EVERYTHING I should have lived in a bubble and then it still probably wouldn't have been allergin free! Now it is as if I was never allergic to anything in my life! They really do allow for a normal life, and they only take about 15 minutes out of your week.

When I was a baby my dad refused to get rid of the cat so my mom gave him a bath once a week and she would add a little bit of downy (fabric softner) to the water. I never had a problem and the cat splet with my most of my life.

Did you find out if it was dust mites or house dust? Dust mites are a very common allergy. Here is a link to an article about them from the Mayo Clinic http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/dust-mites/DS00842

I have severe allergies and asthma. And we live in a VERY dusty area and have two cats and I HATE cleaning house. That being said....I take Zyrtec every day for the allergies during bad times and sometimes I add Sudafed at night. I'm still alive and I'm still quilting. Oh, the cats are still here, too.

i also have a severe allergy to dust....

flonase & claratin every day, sometime add in advil sinus or sinus spray...i have a full artillery to use....but not gonna quit quilting!

Hope everything works outs. I too have allergies and they are a pain!! I'm allergic to cats (have one), mold, plus all the seasonal. On meds constantly to try and overcome. Foods are going to be a problem. My son contracted a seafood allergy when puberty hit!!!

Are you vacuuming your mattress'? That actually is a big one! Once I got my Kirby that is something that I now do often. In fact, check your vacuum cleaner and see if it has a HEPA filter in it. They do help!!!

He is on meds but says he hasn't noticed the difference. I am looking into a better vacuum. And he is still eating the foods he is allergic to, so I can't see him winning this one.

I too have allergies. Allergist says I am his most allergic patient. Can't do the nasal sprays or that antihistamines but once in a while. Ever heard of someone being allergic to antihistamines. (Sleep for long time like 24-36 hours).

Nettie pot helps, tile floor, cover mattress and pillows, rainbow vacuum or hepa filter vacuum, Hepa air filtes, hire a maid once a week to throughly dust. But if he won't cooperate, tell him you are increasing his life insurance and hiring a hit man. LOL

I wouldn't worry so much about the dust if he won't give up the food. I doubt cleaning more often would make a big difference.
