I made a baby quilt a few weeks ago, and the baby has a big sister....so I was kinda thinking of making a quilt for big sister. I was just wondering if you had suggestions for a quilt pattern that was easy but interesting, and NOT the wickedly easy one cause I already did that and I don't have enough fabric. :)

I have 3 fabrics, 2 solids and 1 print. Any ideas? of seomthing that might look fun but not be TOO terribly hard?

How about Rail fence, Best wishes(I think that's the name)? I'm sure that many others will have lots to suggest also.

You could do alternating 9 patches and use the buterfly fabric as the big square or you could add a 4th fabric for the same look. This looks like a very easy pattern to make.

Oh my gosh...I have that fabric! My DD makes purses with the butterfly print. They turn out very cute! Kind of off topic but I got excited about the fabric.

Go on Quilterscache.com and look at all the free patterns that Marcia Hohn has. Many of us use blocks from her site. The blocks are sorted in size, and the directions are very easy to follow.

I would probably alternate a solid square of butterflies, next to a square with red/white (a star or something), then butterflies, then red/white, so that way half the blocks you just need to cut.

Where do you have the time to do all these quilts?? I think you've shown more quilts in the last few weeks than I have total on this board!

I just start them when I get home from work at 4 and then stop around 8 or so. I find it's really relaxing of all things! :)

And I'm giving quilts away from Christmas, so I am starting on them now, and hopefully will have them done by then.

However I am doing EASY quilts, so it's not like I'm turning out quilts like the one below. Which was given as a wedding present. Made by an amish woman in Kalona, Iowa...and it's sad I had to take the old raggedy quilt off the top of my bed to take this picture....the dog like to sleep up there and I don't want him damaging it. :)

Hey I really like your fabric. I think I am with the others that you should keep the butterflies as a solid square. I do like the idea of a star or the nine patch. A pinwheel or diamond might work too. I generally surf the web and see what I can come up with. Have you done things with the triangles before? If not that is okay it might be fun, or a different kind of a challenge. I would just say that if you do the star or pinwheel make sure to line up your seems and pin really good so you get good points. I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Well I do have the 6 inch triangle die for the Accuquilt that I haven't tried yet....so I might have to try it out. I will surf and see if I find anything more. And of course will report back with how it turns out. :P
