Terrific room, looks like you are a real professional working in a store. I admire you.

Durinda 02-19-2011 06:15 AM

love all the colors! Enjoy! :)

Super Douper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

joyce888 02-19-2011 06:32 AM

I wouldn't have the nerve to have my sewing room so visable to everyone. In other words my sewing room stays in a state of chaos.

Linda1 02-19-2011 07:00 AM

It is so big. I feel like I am sewing in a closet sometimes but I am thankful for what I have. Your room is beautiful.

katlady 02-19-2011 07:02 AM

Really neat a great room to sew in!!!

Drew 02-19-2011 07:12 AM

Very nice room and display of your fabrics. It would be easy to pull from your book case and drawers! Great Job!

Peggyinno 02-19-2011 08:05 AM

What a great space!! Love the Ikea cabinet. I'm in the process also of purging and reorganizing my space and can't wait til it's done!

I got mine on sale at Joann Fabrics many years ago(10-12). But they still sell them!

LOL, yes that's what I thought. We NEVER used the formal living room, so I decided that "wasted" space was going to be put to better use finally.

penski 02-19-2011 09:17 AM

beautiful and lots of space , and another quilting room that is so clean and neat !!!!

Sarah CA 02-19-2011 10:10 AM

Very nice sewing room! And in the living room Wow. We rarely ever use our living room (except once a year at Christmas), and I'm trying to convince DH to move my sewing room to the living room because it is such a large room with lots of natural light. He says it's the first thing people see when they come over as it is right by the front door. My answer is anyone that comes over is a friend and they wouldn't care. And...who cares what other people think about how I arrange my house. Any thoughts out there on this?

One thing I've learned in this process is how dang much fabric I have! I've purged a lot and am really happy to have gone through each and every piece of it so I really have a sense of what I have, might need for upcoming projects. I can now make good choices when I start a new project vs. randomly going out and buying fabric that I already had buried in my stash. Now I know what I've got and can put it to good use!

Fantastic space! Great storage!

theresa.redington 02-19-2011 11:54 AM

Don't blame you for enjoying your new quilt studio. I'd enjoy it too. Have fun and quilt, quilt, quilt!

QuiltswithConvicts 02-19-2011 11:57 AM

Thanks for posting your photos. I have been eyeing those same shelves, but couldn't determine exactly how deep they are in relation to fabric. Now I know - think I'm gonna get one unit, possibly 2.

Your room is wonderful. You really have a nice, open space to put your furniture around in.

thequilteddove 02-19-2011 12:04 PM

Great space! Fabulous light w/big slider! Love the cubbies!

Lyncat 02-19-2011 12:44 PM

That is wonderful. I love the natural lighting from the big window!

Quiltbin 02-19-2011 12:54 PM

That is really nice! Everything looks so organized!!

spindreams 02-19-2011 01:17 PM

All that space. And so much shelving! I am happy to see you use the expedit shelving from IKEA. I've looked at it in the store and thought it would be perfect for fabric storage. Apparently it is. My son recently moved out to his own aprtment, and I want to turn his room into my sewing room NOW. Hubby wants to wait until we can paint, tear up the carpet and put flooring in, I don't want to wait. Maybe I'll show him your photos and tell him if I can't use my son's old room yet, I'll turn our living room into my studio. I have already taken over the family room. Hubby has to watch T.V. amidst fabric scraps, & his coffee table is my rotary cutting table....

kreinhart742 02-19-2011 01:22 PM

What a lovely studio

natalieg 02-19-2011 01:38 PM

Very nice room-lots of natural light!

This was my thought too. I figured we aren't planning to sell our house anytime soon, and it is OUR house which should reflect the owners - and as a quilter that room definitely does now, LOL We have people over all the time, and I think as long as I keep it fairly neat as I do our other rooms, why shouldn't I put the square footage to good use, vs. completely unused/unlived in space as it was before? Don't get me wrong, I really liked my living room furniture and it was a pretty room. But we literally never used it, our friends and family wouldn't have dreamed of sitting in there vs. our more comfy family room or finished basement...or even the kitchen where people inevitably end up, you know?

I have also had several friends drop by recently to meet our new baby and ALL of them have exclaimed over how nice the quilt room is and how it's definitely "me" and therefore perfect for our home. since it's in the front of our house, as soon as you have passed the entry, you have done just that - passed the room and really, when you go over to someone else's home, how much do you dwell on the rooms you've passed by vs. the room you actually spend time in? But once again, I keep coming back to the thought that this is OUR home, therefore ours to do what we want vs. worry about what anyone else thinks we "should" do with each room.

OK, stepping off my soapbox now, hah!! I say go for it!

What a great idea with that space! How many of us have a formal dining room that's used on those rare occassions. I bet we'll see a lot of dining room furniture on Craiglist list now.

GORGEOUAS

the table is from either JoAnns or Hancocks, mine is if not hers, it drops like that and I use it well. worth it to get it on sale though.

i especially envy your blocked storage over there, can you tell me more about that?

jojosnana 02-19-2011 05:12 PM

Love it ~

QuiltingHiker 02-19-2011 05:14 PM

Lovely!! I hope you enjoy many productful days in there.

Nice!!

MillieMoseley 02-19-2011 06:39 PM

nice I know you will enjoy it

Quilter2B 02-19-2011 07:35 PM

If I thought I could get away with it, I would do this to our master bedroom. I don't need that much room just for sleeping but I think my DH would object to giving up the bathroom

quiltgrammyt2 02-19-2011 07:48 PM

Great space, love shelving unit and the light in your studio.

cmw0829 02-19-2011 08:07 PM

Beautiful space!! What a great idea though. We never use our formal living room and it's the biggest and best-lit room in the house. Hehehehe...ideas are popping into my head.
