Thought I'd share some pics from my new quilt studio - which used to be our formal living room. I sold the furniture via Craiglist and used the $$ to buy the IKEA Expedit bookcase and saving the rest for when I find the "right" sewing table.
One thing I've learned in this process is how dang much fabric I have! I've purged a lot and am really happy to have gone through each and every piece of it so I really have a sense of what I have, might need for upcoming projects. I can now make good choices when I start a new project vs. randomly going out and buying fabric that I already had buried in my stash. Now I know what I've got and can put it to good use! |
Iam so jealous..someday my DH will get mine done

The bookcase is like a piece of art with all the colorful fabrics stacked inside the cubbies.

beautiful i love it

Love your quilt studio. What kind of table is that? I love that it drops down so small. Your bookcase makes the perfect fabric storage. Good luck finding just the right sewing table.

Craftygardenmom,
What a nice room to sew in. Those cabinets could really hold a lot of fabric. I love all of your room paint colors too! Did you make the wallhanging above your sewing space? It looks very similar to a WIP in my sewing room. Would you take a closeup photo of it please? |
It looks wonderful~! Hope you have lots of enjoyment :D:D
|
Whoa! Your room is huge. Love your fabric.
|
Wow! Ya' done sooo good! Wish you were here to help finish mine...

great room and great stash-have fun

I have some of those same shelves from IKEA. Here's something you should think about though.... Having your fabric out in the light like that may not be a good idea. It will fade, get discolored etc. IKEA makes pull out boxes that fit those niches and yes, I know, more $ but your fabric will be out of the light. I keep my fabric in my closed closet. I've inherited fabric with obvious fold, fade lines and the previous owners probably stored the fabric where light got to it.

great, gives me some good ideas

It's got to be your favorite place!
|
love your new quilting studio, thanks for sharing with all of us

Wonder if I can get away with that. Unfortunately my house is a 1908 ranchouse we refurbished and it is a lot of open space like on Bonanza, so if I put it in the living room, I have no privacy. You are so lucky. Thanks for sharing. Just love what you've done.
