EQ7 is downloaded to your computer. You can install it on two computers as many times as you want but only on two computers at a time. Be sure if you buy a used one it has the serial number, if not you can't install EQ5. The number is on the packaging if I remember right.

I just wanted to ask a question about the EQ. Do any of them allow you to photograph and use fabric you own? Are you limited to just what the site carries? Thank you for any answers. I am considering getting one if they do. If not I will just keep doing it by hand since I find it relaxing.

i have EQ5... yes, i can photograph my fabric and load it. the number of pixels [size of pic] is pretty specific... the directions are in the manual and online help

Yes, although to be honest I found it easier to simply find a picture of the fabric online and use it instead. A lot of fabric manufacturers have free downloadable jpgs of their fabrics specifically for this purpose, also. They're such enablers!
