Wow, lucky day for you !!! Isn't it wonderful to find something you love at teeny weeny prices? I haven't been able to get out and scour the yard sales, estate sales or thrift shops yet. Hoping DGD will drive her old granny around soon. Again CONGRATULATIONS

CarolynW 10-22-2011 10:25 AM

Glad the lady's quilting supplies went to someone who will appreciate them. Makes me wonder what my kids will do with mine. Recently at a quilt guild meeting a lady showed 3 beautiful quilt tops. Someone said, "You've really been busy this month", and her response was that she had paid $15 for the three at a garage sale. They probably had much more than $100 worth of fabric in them, but husbands and heirs often don't know their value.

slk350 10-22-2011 10:36 AM

You got a great deal. I just love the estate and yard sales in Ohio. I remember one of them I got a barrel of wool for $10.

dixiebelle162002 10-22-2011 12:11 PM

great score!!! :D :D

mcpatches 10-22-2011 12:21 PM

I opened up the quilt top completely (its at least a queen size) and found a block with the school mascot and another with the name of the school. Looked for it on the internet and sent an email to the school with the names of the block makers and the fact that it looked like it was made for an unnamed retiring teacher. Asked them if they would like it to display it since it would have more meaning to them than to me.

CherryPie 10-22-2011 12:44 PM

These kind of post make me very happy for the lucky finder!
However I want to run to my stash and drawers and start using everything. I don't want to go with so much bought and not used.

cny_sewer39 10-22-2011 04:36 PM

My Kind of deal. Thanks for sharing.

It was thoughtful of you to contact the school where the
quilt originated. Let us know if you discover any history
about the quilt. You found a gold mine of stash.

JuneBillie 10-22-2011 06:52 PM

You did good.

DonnaB 10-22-2011 07:11 PM

Congratulations of your estate find. I had my daughter go Saturday to an estate sale to look at an older Kenmore sewing machine. It runs fine but the fly wheel is frozen up, also the lever that changes stitch length is also frozen up. I now have a boat anchor for sale!! LOL

BettyM 10-23-2011 06:02 AM

Don't you just love it!

Highmtn 10-23-2011 06:03 AM

Yep! Score!! You should be doing your HAPPY QUILTERS DANCE!
