I have sold on Etsy for awhile and like it!
I have never had the Complicated payment scams and the fees are low.
Once you become familiar with the site it is easy to navigate.
but as some others have said it is not ebay and that's what I like!
No auctions you get what you ask for the item, no sending invoices as it is an automatic checkout like a store website.
You need to develop policies for shipping returns etc.
but I think this helps with sales when the buyer knows what to expect.
But this is your "store" you set timelines for shipping payment etc not ebay
If you have questions just let me know I will be happy to help!

Etsy is a valuable resource if you are serious about selling your work. Yes, it takes some marketing, but there is a wealth of information to help you and a community of artists to learn from. There is also a new altenative to Etsy called Big Cartel. http://www.bigcartel.com/ (BTW, a 50% consignment rate is pretty standard in many areas of the country, same as wholesale. Galleries get 60%. You pay for these places to do the selling for you)

I have had stuff on Etsy for years. It never sells. There are thousands of quilts on there! Especially baby quilts.

I have a shop on Etsy. You get out of it what you put into it. If you are not constantly updating your inventory or purchasing Treasury pages, you will get lost in the other quilts. That being said, I know other quilters have a lot of success with the site.

I'm still working on getting enough inventory to keep my shop updated constantly, but whenever I post new items, my shop hits go up tremendously.
