I use batiks, for making my blouses!! lol They can be worn alone, over a tank top, etc. AND they normally have enough variation in colors that they will go with several pants or skirts. Have used them sparingly in quilts, but that's just a personal preference. They are pretty.

Most of the fabric I buy now is batik. Due to the way they're produced, there's less shrinkage. They also feel more substantial, fray less and come in very saturated colors. Oh, they don't stretch as much on the bias either. Give it a try.

I went to Marshall's warehouse store today. They have so much more than what you see on their website! All major brands like Northcott, Westminster, Quilting Treasures, Michael Miller, RileyBlake, Fabric Traditions, and tons more I can't recall... Most of these sold for $3.99 or $4.99... unless you found short cuts of them on the flat fold tables for $1.99 and $2.99! My only disappointment was that they were out of the 80/20 batting I needed. The people were great and even tho I stayed 4 hours I still did not see it all.

This is all batik fabric and it was soft and easy to work with. Quilt shop owner said that it did not need to be prewashed. I use batiks all the time. The only one I've ever had a problem with was a piece I bought at a Ben Franklin Store. It was for a block swap here, so I prewashed as directed by the swap coordinator. WOW did it bleed! I washed multiple times in the sink with Retayne and it turned my hands purple. But mostly I use Hoffmans and never had a problem.

I think the complaint was about Marshall's batiks, not Hoffmanns. From what I saw today, batiks are not Marshall's strong suit. They are the thicker type with too much contrast for my liking... But I did see a few nice ones. They also have tie-dye type fabrics that are similar but nicer I thought.

Nice quilt, BTW!

I'm a little slow, lol.....I've seen Marshall's mentioned on here several times too but have never purchased from them. I just went to look at the website (liked lots of the colors I saw) , but am not seeing the pricing......am I not looking in the right place???

Are you talking about wholesale or retail? For wholesale prices you need to call and talk to a salesman. The man who helped me is named "Gray". The prices are cheap.
