It seems to be starting. Today I had to go to JoAnn's and as I was leaving the house I saw a pillow that was the wrong color for the livingroom. So I made a mental note to use my 40% off fabric coupon and get a piece of fabric for that project too.
When I got to JoAnn's I found the most fabulous ultra suede with a running stitch floral pattern. It was the perfect color for my livingroom. So it immediately went in the basket. As the fabric was being cut I realized that I could have an entire house full of fabulous fabrics. And I felt a decided itch. Is this the beginning of the fabric addition? |
Allow me to be the first to welcome you :) It's a wonderful sickness to have. Expensive but wonderful :)

You are now one of us. Fabric Addicts. It's a wonderful place to be. Enjoy.
It's exciting. I think I'm beginning to see how decorating my house can be enjoyable. I've never done it before and it was always intimidating to think about. But that's turning around with the quilting. Cool beans!

Welcome to our world :D:D:D

:D Welcome Welcome :D You are amongst a world of addicts now & it is a fabulous place to be. Best part is that there is no cure. Pillows, Cornice Boards, Drapes, Curtains, Tabletoppers, Throws, covers for Toasters, Mixers, Blenders in the kitchen, Tablerunners, Placemats, Hotpads, etc. Whew! There is no end! :-D The list just goes on & on. Then of course it is time to change all of this out again. :D Yep, Welcome!
Oh I am soooo addicted to fabric. Every time I find a new one, the last one that I LOVED and could not live without, isn't as pretty as the new one! Now I really need to start working on all of my projects and stop buying fabric!!
Best addiction to have!
I am newer to quilting, but.... I am getting quite the fabric stash. My MIL just chuckles at me, I found Moose fabric that I just loved, have no idea what I'm gonna do with it yet, when I showed her, her first question was "Did ya get 3 yards?" "Yup" i said. LOL
Well I'm on a fixed budget so three yards is way more than I could get. But I'm definitely starting to plan to have my home full of fantastic fabrics on every surface. This is so great.

I had a coupon for the fabric, so that was a big decision maker on how many yards to get. LOL I usually plan ahead and buy fabric here and there so it doesn't break the budget. Hence my growing fabric stash... LOL
Never met a quilt shop I couldn't stop and shop at. I keep my quilting travel guide in the car all the time.

It is most definately the beginnings. There is no known cure for TFAS (terminal fabric addiction syndrome) because as of yet nobody WANTS a cure found, with the exception of a few significant others. Dive into your TFAS with the knowledge that there is no suffering associated with this disease and that it is widespread so there are many support groups to encourage and help you reach your full potential along the way--this is one of them. Other symptoms may include, but is not limited to, scouring Craiglist, garage sales, fabric stores and estate sales for bargains, putting up shelves to hold your fabric, building or creating rooms devoted to your addiction, etc. The main thing to remember is DON'T try to curb it. Stifling TFAS may lead to depression, anxiety, sleeplessness, and general grouchiness.

Hey, it is cheap than heroin and subsquent rehab.
LOL, yes you are addicted and unfortunately there is NO known cure :)
We have double addiction at our house...DH and I BOTH are quilters, and we BOTH love and have to have fabric!! He used to be my "controller", but since he learned to quilt, that control is gone. Only partially kidding....we do have lots of fabric in our stash, but we normally buy just for what we are working on, plus a few little extras that we just can't walk away from. Wait.....was that an excuse for buying fabric that I don't need? Hmmm..I think YES!!
lol, it must be wonderful to have a quilting hubby.
Welcome to the fabric addiction world. Glad you joined us. Now, start learning where all the quilt shops are and don't forget to check thrift shops as they sometimes have good quality fabric there as well. FYI: Never ask yourself "Do I really need this fabric?" The answer is always YES!!!!!
Oh raptureready, I need to print that off to put in my sewing space! :)
Welcome to the club. Now you understand the rest of us!!!! Everybody has to have a vice........mine is fabric!!

I had to go and buy an armoire for all my material. Fortunately I found a beautiful piece of furniture at the local Goodwill store for a fabulous price. I live in a "Granny" cottage and don't have that much room, but that doesn't stop me. (I also have a good supply of yarn which I am now slowly diminishing). You will find uses for whatever material you buy; I use some of it to make baby clothes with a local church group; some to teach my granddaughters how to quilt and the rest - I just know I will find a use for it. So when you find a piece that you just absolutely must have, get it and have no regrets.

tkhooper, You're hooked!!. I like your Avatar. I like dragonflys.
Eiltcoq. |
Welcome to my world! My friend Kath and I have decided that we don't have a problem, therefore we don't need a cure. The next level is not being able to cut into it.
Justification for a wall of fabric, the insulation factor. LOL. |
LOL, yes that is true, glad there isn't
When a "Quilter Addict" drinks, eats and sleeps thinking about fabric - There is No Hope!! Make the most of the addiction.... quilt - quilt - quilt - buy - buy - buy !!!
Enjoy the Madness !!!! :D :D :D |

Years ago, I bought just what I intended to use, and then kept the scraps leftover, of course. Then one day, I read in a quilting magazine that everyone should have a "stash" of fabric from which to choose. (light bulb moment!) So, I started buying for a stash, and thus began my love affair. After a while, I decided there was a goal... to buy fabric and lots of it while I was working and could afford it so when I retired, I could make quilts to my heart's content and never have to buy any new fabric! So, now I'm retired (early!) and I do have enough fabric to never have to buy any again. However, I seem to just keep adding to my stash! The enormity of my stash was brought home to me just today because I got out my collection of navy and cream fabrics to make another quilt from those fabrics. I have about 25 fabrics that are navy with cream print or cream with navy and after cutting strips from all of them, I realized that I probably have enough of these fabrics to make about 15 or 20 navy and cream colored quilts! And I could do the same with greens, teals, purples, blacks, reds, browns, yellows, blues, pinks..... oh my! I need to make about 2000 quilts before I die!!
Just know and be aware that there are many support groups here.lol Jolo

15 totes full and just bought more. Welcome to our world!
