Hi I'm from Alabama, and I was wondering if anyone knows if Wal Mart will bring back a full department on the fabric and have it on the bolt or will it be in package. Everyone needs to e-mail Wal Mart and ask for the fabric on the bolt. That will be a lot better, because we use to get in some good $1.50 and $2.00 a yd material. And what I seen at another store was in packages. So please, lets try to get the bolts and full fabric department back.

SueDor 10-17-2010 05:09 AM

Hi from Ohio! Our Walmart just closed their fabric Dept. As for reopening I wouldn't know.

ssgramma 10-17-2010 05:16 AM

Our fabric dept never changed and has lots of bolts.

CarrieAnne 10-17-2010 05:18 AM

Ours is supposed to close. I have called 3 times!

PurplePassion 10-17-2010 05:34 AM

Our Walmart has lots of fabric and polar fleece. They finally put in better shelving to show it off. They need a better selection of thread and zippers.

wolfkitty 10-17-2010 05:36 AM

Someone here announced that Walmart is bringing back fabric.

Hi! :) Welcome from Minnesota!

MaryStoaks 10-17-2010 07:43 AM

We got our WM fabric dept. back. They have bolts. The dept. is still setting-up and there seems to be more variety than before they closed the old fabric dept. The cutting table is too small, the gals have to put a shopping cart next to it to accomadate the bolt they are cutting. Time for some more input by the people who cut!

littlehud 10-17-2010 08:56 AM

Hello and welcome from SW Iowa. Glad to have you here. Someone on here said some Wal marts are bringing fabric back.

grammyp 10-17-2010 10:06 AM

Hello and welcome from central Alabama. Our local Wal-Mart said they will not be getting it back on the bolt. Don't know how it will work.

Yes, I also read that on the internet just a couple of days ago. I surely hope they do bring it back to all the WM's.

reginalovesfabric 10-18-2010 06:42 AM

hello and welcome from south Mississippi...I too called Bentonville and was told no more fabric except the fq and precut, then last week on this board a lady stated she read it in the New York times that wally world would bring back fabric. Mrs. Walton was the person responsible for the fabric departments in the stores, she is probably not HAPPY with the nuts running the business now.

Diannw 10-18-2010 07:21 AM

I do not know what part of the state you are from, but we still have it by the bolt in Clanton, Alabama, Chilton county home of the best peaches y'all ever had.

Hi, from Murrells Inlet, SC

merrylouw 10-18-2010 09:38 AM

Welcome to the board! You'll really enjoy it here.

You might take a look at this recent thread on the board. There's hope on the horizon.

I am wondering if they will bring it back in certain areas and not in others. We have many places to buy fabric in my area, so perhaps their sales were not what they needed to dedicate that much floor space for fabric. One store has none any more and another has a very limited amount. it all boils down to their sales, I am sure. We HAve the wonderful Fabric Depot (Fabricdepot.com) , large JoAnn's and probably more quilt shops than many other areas of the US.

barefoot quilter 10-18-2010 09:58 AM

i have two walmarts in my area and they both downsized ther fabric

Sewze 10-18-2010 11:01 AM

Hi and welcome from VA. Our WM had just downsized and then (thankfully) fabric bolts started returning and now they're really full and the fleece is in great big wire wire bins.

rneugin 10-18-2010 12:14 PM

i think so to call the bentonville home office complain or request

ktmo815 10-18-2010 01:43 PM

Welcome from Ohio (rainy Ohio, that is!) lol

Welcome from Arizona!

rneugin 10-18-2010 01:59 PM

i hope they bring back fabric @ wal-mart some jobs were lost when they cut back . we just need to keep asking untill they do every week

retired2pa 10-18-2010 02:06 PM

Our WM hasn't had fabric in a long time. When I was there a couple weeks ago I noticed 4 bolts in the very limited craft section and there was a sign that said $5/bolt. Let me tell you...that fabric was terrible! It was thin and the bolts weren't even full!! Personally, I never liked WM fabric so I don't really care if they carry it or not. I try not to spend any more money there than I have to.

Owllady 10-18-2010 04:05 PM

Yes, our store just got fabric back. There are bolts and cut pieces. Does not look like we will have as much as we once had.

JUNEC 10-18-2010 04:07 PM

I live in central (outside of Tampa) Florida. Several of the Walmarts down here do not have fabric departments - including the "busiest Walmart in the Country" - in Pinellas Park. Everytime they renovate the "older" Walmarts the fabric department disappears.
Beginning to be a real bummer.

I was in our Walmart Saturday and was told they are bringing back fabric because of the petitions. They already had some and I did have some cut. The last time I was there ,the cuting table was even gone but it is back now. I was glad to see that!

dotlette 10-18-2010 05:50 PM

Hello from Tn. Our local Walmart discontinued the bolts but has the precuts. I can go 35 miles to another town and they have everything.

CoriAmD 10-18-2010 05:52 PM

Hi from southeast Michigan... we have 3 WalMart stores fairly close to me and only 1 sells fabric (of course it's the one the farthest distance). I would love to have it available at all the stores, especially the one that is only 7 miles from me

cooper 10-18-2010 07:18 PM

this has been talked to death for MONTHS, and it comes around every so often one again. the cuts are super cheap and they dont care at Walmart, they are cutting their overhead by less employees. there was a write in MONTHS ago, they havent listened to consumers yet. Like I said , this board I think is over the discussion, as Is the yahoo groups I am on. Sorry
but this topic is very old. Not trying to shoot you down or make you mad. Just stating facts

sabcoke 10-18-2010 07:43 PM

We had our super walmart take out their material, but the older one still carries material. I like the $1.50 and 2.00 yard. The started selling it 5 yard bolts for $5.00. I hope they all do start selling material.

cooper 10-18-2010 07:45 PM

that is sooooo thin, I wouldnt spend money on it. Sorry that is just my opnion. it wouldnt last a washing machine for very long

mable 10-18-2010 08:01 PM

Wished wal mart would bring back the fabric. The walmarts in Alabama has almost discontuined all the fabric in the Birmingham area. Mable a new quilter
