I agree, just because you come from a good family doesn't mean that everyone in that family is going to make good decisions. I have a cousin who grew up in the church and raised good that is in prison. Values may be taught, but your child has to choose whether or not to follow those values. I also find that a lot of the younger generation is not teaching their kids values these days. I think that's why there is an increase in these crimes of people shooting up places. I see a lot of parents ignoring their small kids, especially when they do really bad things, and I just think their 5 now, what are they going to be like at 15 with no boundaries now. I see a lot of this right now with small children, so I think it will only get worse in the future.

I agree. Heard it from a male friend who works near the store. Hope they can rebuild.

My FIL was a psychiatrist and he felt that arsonists had something 'broken' that could not be 'fixed.' It is more important, IMHO, for the arsonist to see the fire and get a high from that than it is to consider how much damage s/he is doing to others. I am sorry for this family as we have a family business and depend on its income. No matter how much insurance covers, there is still a sense of loss and violation. I hope the family can somehow be comforted.

It is not just this generation. A neighbor who was a alcoholic had a son who set fires. We are talking 55 years ago. I did not understand it at all at the time. Now I wonder if it had something to do with his Mother and her addiction. I love this quote from many years ago. Used it on my husband when he was ranting.
