So yes, just call me (and others) green with envy at such terribly high prices, as you say!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. Here in Australia the best fabrics range from $15 up to and over$30 per meter(39 inches)

I think we all have to do what we have to do.Prices are reaching the stratosphere & many of us have no choice. It's shop on line or stop quilting.
Have bought fabric/notions as needed this last yr,but in the back of my mind,I know the day will come when quilting is going to be way beyond what I can afford.
Will read more (I use library & also swap paperbacks with other ppl)go back to some old hobbies like crochet etc.
Might not be my 1st choice, but facts are facts.JMO

"Support your local quilt shops or be prepared to shop on-line all the time! Just my Humble Opinion on the matter! Thanks for listening! Luann in CT were 3 quilt shops closed in in past 6 months!"

I agree with you but I do think you should let them know that too. Word of mouth is very good advertising and it works both positively and negatively. A local fabric shop here went out of business and although we don't know the actual reason why, we think a lot of it had to do with customer service on her part. She was not a people person, not a good thing when running a business.

I stopped shopping at a beautiful quilt shop in Boonville, IN because the owner was rigid and rude. She never smiled or acted friendly. It was a 45 minute drive for me to get there. I felt like I was imposing by asking anyone to cut my fabric! Just decided I'd had enough and won't go back. Haven't been there in over a year and won't go again.
