$9-$10 at the lqs. Hobby Lobby hasn't hit the ceiling yet, so I still go there a lot.

laalaaquilter 04-17-2011 06:05 AM

Full price here is $7.50 and up. I generally shop the clearance rack and lately Etsy. I'm not sure with shipping I'm doing much better but at least I don't have trip costs on those purchases. I also try to limit my LQS purchases to when I'm there anyway for BOM day.

$10 to $15 per yard for Moda type quality. Hand dyes $15 and up. LQS Batiks $12 to $17 per yard. Some of the same Batiks are at JoAnns for $10 per yard plus a coupon if you have it. BTW, cotton is making a massive move upward as a commodity in pricing. Look for much higher prices very soon.

Crazy Quiltin Robin 04-17-2011 10:10 AM

KathyKat 04-17-2011 02:05 PM

$9.50-$16 for a 45" wide yard. Higher if wider fabric. They even have a japanese fabric that is 36" wide and is about $16/yd and they've had it since before the earthquakes.

Running from 10.25 and up here in Oregon.

jitkaau 04-17-2011 09:16 PM

$21 - $34 per metre in OZ. Some specialty shops in the city, 95km drive away, you can pay $35 - $75 per metre for quilting cotton if you like.

Jammin' Jane 04-17-2011 10:55 PM

OUCH!!!! It's a good thing we've got out "stash" to fall back on! Those are some hefty prices!

islandboundquilting 04-18-2011 04:20 PM

100% cotton is about $10.50 and batik is $11.00.

clsurz 04-18-2011 05:18 PM

5.95 to 9.95

jmabby 04-18-2011 07:59 PM

Gosh, it's gotten so bad I don't try to figure what I'm spending on a quilt, like not counting the hours you put in making the quilt

auntiehenno 04-18-2011 11:27 PM

It depends. I bought a beautiful $13 yrd fabric, but got it for half price.

calano1 04-19-2011 12:23 AM

Here in SA we pay R120 (and more) per meter .....

So if you put it like this:::
1 Bread = R9.00
2 liter Milk = R24.00

Then 1 meter of fabric will pay for 4 days' bread & milk!!!

katesnanna 04-19-2011 05:03 AM

I buy most of mine from America. Even with postage it's still about 1/3 of the cost the LQS charge here. Have found quilt shops closing down when we've been traveling at times and will take the chance to stock up. Have also bagged some good buys on eBay.

Jennifer22206 04-19-2011 07:15 AM

10.50 - 15.50 a yard.

Melody 04-19-2011 01:50 PM

(feeling like Chicken Little here....) I don't have much of a stash. Really I don't! I just checked, and I don't have much to fall back on.
And sadly, it's true. sigh. And I spent a few days last week shopping the bargain shelves at 2 LQS nearby. And went to Hobby Lobby. And bought a roll of 80/20 Hobbs (got a great price)....... and I just know I need to get some more fabric. I'm serious, I do.

Yvie 04-19-2011 01:59 PM

Oh My, how I wish I was in the US buying fabric! :-(
This morning I bought 2 metres of Moda Bliss from my local quilt store and it was £11.95 p/metre so $39 in total! Unfortunately that's how much we have to pay round here - although it never seems to stop me!!!

Marvel 04-20-2011 01:08 PM

Here in eastern Ok and western Ar about 10.00 per yard.

Melody 04-20-2011 01:20 PM

Just went back to the LQS and they have stocked their bargain shelf so tightly that you can hardly get a bolt out. So, I bought more! The discounts were 35% and 40%... my total discounts were $60. I'm happy with that. When the clerk was cutting the fabric she said you are doing the smart thing because all the new fabric that will be coming in... (she shook her head in disbelief).. is going to be much higher.

Melody

JUNEC 04-20-2011 01:22 PM

I am desperately trying to stay out of them

jmabby 04-26-2011 09:39 AM

I guess I'm lucky. My daughter has been giving me a hard time about all the fabric I have, but now usually I only need to go buy one or two piece when making a quilt, I have so much fabic I could open a store.

VickyS 04-26-2011 09:45 AM

Here fabric is running $8 - $16/yard at Joann's on sale and up to $3-$8+/yard more expensive in LQS for 45" material. Larger widths are almost impossible to find, except online.

Let me know went you have your grand opening - Would love to be your 1st customer

Cinderella 02-09-2012 04:28 AM

$3.59 - $7.99/yd. I am fortunate to have a surplus store that buys discontinued quilting cottons and sell for $3.59....I have gotten Michael Miller, South Sea Imports, etc. My regular quilting shops run no more than $7.99. It pays to live in the country!

joyce j 02-09-2012 05:10 AM

$10.50 and up.

dd 02-09-2012 05:30 AM

I was at the first LQS on Tues and paid $10.49/yd and $3/yd but that one was in the marked down fabric. Then went to the second LQS and paid $6.99/yd. The sales clerk was even astonish by that price.

1000projects 02-09-2012 05:32 AM

I have been organizing my fabric lately ... it reduces the need to buy more, lol.

EagarBeez 02-09-2012 07:11 AM

We have a store which I would refer to as a general store, they have some fabric and not shoddy, nice fabric. It runs between $6.99 and $10.00.

Coll 02-09-2012 07:23 AM

In Canada our prices for LQS fabric averages about 15.99 - 16.99 a metre.

sweetana3 02-09-2012 07:47 AM

I have enough in my stash to make lots and lots of quilts. I haunt the garage sales, estate sales, and sales in general. I will be setting up a shopping list for my birthday month so I can get 30% off everything. Pays to be patient and go with what can be found.
