Same in north mich
I was in our LQS the other day and the prices were from $6.99 to $7.99/yd.
$11 and up. :( We're in a smallish mountain town, lucky to have one LQS. The Walmart does not sell fabrics. Would have to travel down the pass 30+ miles to visit any other quilt shop. That''s why I buy online and what I can from members here.
My LQS is still at $8.95. She doesn't have employees to pay so that keeps her prices down but I hear the price of fabric is going up soon AGAIN so she may be forced to increase. I better stock up now. She carries alot of Moda and a variety of other great stuff.

$18.95/metre here in the Yukon (northern Canada).
lqs here is $9.99 a yd but she told me when she orders again will be higher because her cost went up.
Here it is $24.46 (16.95 Euro) per meter
Around $7.99 and up for the better quality. I placed and received my first order from Connecting Threads, very impressed with the quality and selection, will be ordering from them again. Their prices are affordable for me.
Mostly $10-11 a yd. One stores outlet location will have some at $6-7 a yd with limited selection.

$9.99 to $10.99. I also order a lot online, especially from Fabric.com. And I've gotten some real deals here on the Forum.
$18.95/ metre and up here in Edmonton, Alberta. That's why I buy my fabrics online and from members here.
$11.59 as of this morning.
The small shop my friend has, her highest is $8.99. Still too much for me.

Have you tried buying it from the US...even with postage it is normally still alot cheaper |
Was in the Joann's store in Minot and they have lot of quality q fabric at 3.99 some of the pricier stuff is marked down to 7 & 8. Of course if you want specialty costs a little more. fat qtrs were $.99 each. daffodil dash stuff was 2.99.
$16.98 and up - that's per metre. Fabric shops in the USA are my downfall!
YIKES!!!! And we complain.....
Your answers convince me that I am doing the right thing to go to Thrift Stores and buy fabric. At St. Vincents I bought 20 yards for $9.00. At Good Will I bought 2 yards for $2.00 All these are new fabrics. All I need to do is sterilize them and use. I especially look for Crib quilt designs.
I was in Wal-Mart a couple of weeks ago and looked over their fabric. It was %5.95 a yard and was like 150 thread count. I wouldn't want it even if they were giving it away. Can you imagine the shrinkage? |
We're over $10, and that includes quilting cottons at JoAnn's as well as the LQS. I always check on line, sites like Z & S fabrics, Connecting Threads, e-quilter. I always check out the clearance items on these sites, too. Lately I've been shopping in my stash - about time I start using these fabrics and kits that I just "had to have" LOL
$20-$24 per metre in Australia.
I buy from US even with postage it is heaps cheaper. Won't be moving, other things make up for it. |
$10~12 a yard here too. Online shopping has helped but I do love to feel the fabric first. I have a workable stash (a couple 100 yards)that I will be 'shopping' from for a while. If my stash gets any bigger I forget what I have.
$12 a yard for all non batik cotton
$14 a yard for all batiks. this is why i only buy online i get non batik cotton online for 2-6 a yard and batiks for $6 a yard |
$8.00 To $ 8.50 Clinton Mississippi New Shop opened here. Pretty Fabric. She also has a web site. Great prices.
I live in mid-Ohio, an easy drive to Columbus, Toledo, Findley and Ft Wayne Indiana. We have 3 very nice LQS with in a short drive plus Walmart and Joannn"s. ALL fabrics are within the neighborhood of $9.99.
$8.99-$9.15
This seems to be the year we all maybe making more scrap quilts using our stash. We have one LQS to shop, one LQS is going out of business. We don't have a JoAnns or Hancocks close. I have recently started ordering from ericas.com because its hard to get a large variety of fabric from one quilt shop. And its cheaper to pay postage than pay for gas to drive 30-40 miles to shp at JoAnns/Hancocks. |
$18.00-$22.00, Gimli, Manitoba
$9.99 to $13.99/yd
10.99 to 14.99 a yard new prices that start on May 1st. Omg. I really need to buy 20 or so yards of neutrals quickly and then shop my stash..
Quilt shops is $9.49 and up in both TX and PA. I have a Surplus City store where I spend my summers. It is not a chain store so if you have one near you it may not be the same. This is a privately owned store. Anyway, they sell discontinued quilt fabric or first run quilt fabric at $3.49-$4.99. I just bought some a few days ago. Fabric by Michael Miller & Thimbleberries. Purchased 6 yards for $21! They don't have a great variety but can ALWAYS find something...at those prices who couldn't?
