Fabric shopping here I come!

I am retiring this Friday and am looking forward to doing more quilting. My department gave me a little going away party last week and presented me with a $100.00 gift card from Joann's. Another co-worker gave me a $20.00 gift card from Joann's. You can probably guess where I will be in a week or so. I received a flyer on Saturday saying that there will be a good sale the week of Jan. 6. Yippee!!! :):):)

I was there yesterday to pick up Velcro for a church project. Since I had a 40% and a 50% coupon, I bought myself a new cutting mat and a Fons & Porter marking pencil....my own Christmas gifts!! I knew exactly what I wanted! :) Have fun!

PaperPrincess 12-23-2013 06:04 AM

Congrats! You will be amazed, however, at how quickly your day goes. The old maxim about "I don't know how I had time to work" is really true!

nanna-up-north 12-23-2013 06:07 AM

Congratulations on your retirement and welcome to the 'don't know how I had time to work' club.

erstan947 12-23-2013 06:15 AM

Congrats on retirement. I never wanted to work so my retirement has a double blessing. For the most part my time is my own and I love every minute! Quilt on!

quiltinghere 12-23-2013 06:22 AM

Congratulations on retiring! As you sew during the day, I hope your days are as long as they were when you worked. :D

Good for you! I've been semi retired for the last 6 years, picking up a part time job whenever I felt the urge!

BellaBoo 12-23-2013 06:37 AM

Congratulations! I hope you have a terrific retirement.
When the last child finished college I handed in my resignation that very day. I haven't regretted it one minute. I love waking up and doing exactly what I want to do for the day.

mighty 12-23-2013 07:23 AM

Congratulations on the retirement.
I bet you spend more than the gift cards are worth. I know I always do. I'm like a kid in a candy store, so I don't go often.

nygal 12-23-2013 02:39 PM

Yes, congrats.!! Enjoy spending your gift cards. Do you have a specific project in mind? Or just going to add to your stash?

Cam's gram 12-23-2013 02:41 PM

Happy, Happy retirement. The freedom is amazing, just being able to decide what you want to do without the long list of have to dos. Have fun!

klaws 12-24-2013 05:50 AM

Thanks everyone for the well wishes on my retirement. I plan on enjoying it as much as possible.
Joyce, that is the flyer that I got a couple days ago. I'm waiting until Jan 5-7 to shop. That way I can use any 50% off coupons in addition to the 25% off total purchase coupon. What a deal, huh?

Chatfield 12-24-2013 08:16 AM

Rodney 12-24-2013 09:19 AM

Congrats on your retirement!

How do you get mailers from Joann's? I get the emails but no hard copies. Sales are about the only time I can afford to shop there.
Rodney

MargeD 12-24-2013 11:05 AM

Congratulations on your retirement and the wonderful gift cards that you received. I hope you take advantage of all the after Christmas sales and coupons. Just a little "heads up" - I have been "retired" for over 6 years due to my husband's health issues and not being able to find a job. I find that the more time I have, the less I seem to get done, but I will say that I let the time pass me by at times, although I do find time for my first love - quilting.

Emma S 12-24-2013 11:20 AM

Rodney: You can sign up for the mailers either on line or in the store. I heard people say that they went through the steps with no results but I haven't had a problem. You can also get coupons sent directly to your cell phone.

carolynjo 12-24-2013 12:04 PM

Congratulations! I hope you have many years to enjoy your time. We all deserve our retirement, for we really do 2 or 3 full time jobs.

ILoveToQuilt 12-24-2013 04:42 PM

Congratulations!! Enjoy your well deserved time off!!!

misschris 12-25-2013 05:48 AM

I retired in August. First two weeks I missed my co-workers. After that it was on to more quilting. Problem I have is keeping track of what day of the week it is and wrapping my brain around having no schedule. Doesn't take long to adjust. Enjoy!!
