I found this youtube on the very same topic a while back and tried it. Isn't it also known as the 10-minute block in other circles?

It is very similar to that youtube, MadQuilter, but all my squares start off the same size. These both started with 2.5" squares, but my quilt will start with 5" squares. Here are a few pictures I took while I was working on the first one. I shouldn't since I'm a writing teachers, but I feel that a picture is worth 1000 words. Hope they help.

I did a similar thing with the 10 minute blocks. The trick was getting the pieces inserted between two blocks so there would be a window in the offset row. Maybe your way will be easier.

Sweet, I really like this! Thank you for sharing it with us!

Wow, that looks so cool the way you did this. I wanted to try the 10 minute block, but thought there was a lot of wasted fabric that way. This looks so much better. Thanks for sharing. Now I have another one to add to my ever growing list to try.

That is beautiful!! What's the "fake" part of the cathedral window? They look real to me.

Very pretty!

Aha! It has been years since I did cathedral quilting. As I recall, it was like doing a cootie catcher with lots of ironing and only two colors. Yours looks much nicer and easier. Love the lavender and gray!
