moving from West Virginia to California tomorrow and my friends all gave me a goodbye dinner last nite. Guess what they gave me as a goodbye gift, a stack of fat quarters. I was so happy.

One of the nicest gifts that I ever got when I transferred to a new area was from a young man on the staff who gave me four pieces of beautiful quilting material as his farewell. I really treasured those pieces and they went into a very special quilt that I made shortly after when I retired. I know how you would love the gift. Congratulations.

What thoughtful friends. For years I ask my family to give me gift certificates to my favorite LQS for birthdays, Christmas etc. Would they do it? NOOOOOOOO. So I took the stuff they did give me and had a large garage sale from time to time and used that money to buy my fabric. They never knew.
