Sorry for your loss, I lost my husband recently. It is a shock, and lots of paperwork to settle all things. Laura Hird's Farmer's wife is what a group of us did together on QB. We continued with her book II and III, and I did the Bible Sampler also. Yes, I still treasure her books and have finished the first three of her books; made them into quilted quilts. Still working on Bible Sampler. Also we did a short version of ?pine? nic or nick your English, a paper piecing project that was wonderful. Unfortunately, the finished blocks were taken with out permission and I would love to find the patterns again.

I started Dear Jane; its put away in a box that shall not be opened in near future. It was much harder for me than the Farmer's wife series. Each to their own choices; enjoy what you do. Still trying to remember pintcrest or pinehearst or pinecrest site.

I joined this Facebook group some time ago, but haven't followed through yet. My sketchy understanding is, you purchase the patterns in groups, which the page author has re-formatted to make them easier? Maybe I'll take a look again. What size are these Farmer's Wife blocks? |
I have the book, and the CD must be somewhere although when I checked the book, I had the Dear Jane CD in there!
FWIW Electric Quilt did sell a CD for the Farmer's Wife quilt for EQ 5 & 6, which I also have. Using that CD you can print out all the patterns, which I think means paper pieced patterns. I never did get going on this project so it may also print the templates, which are supposed to be on the FW CD (as they were for the Dear Jane CD by Electric Quilt). The patterns on the Facebook group mentioned above are pretty reasonably priced at $8.50 per about 10 blocks at a time. There are 12 pattern sets in all for a total cost of $102. Also FWIW when I did the Dear Jane I printed out every pattern, and put them in a biiiig binder, and stored the completed blocks in page protectors in the binder, in number order with their pattern. That kept me on track and when I wanted to make another block, I just picked a page which appealed to me. This saved me from boredom and kept me from making doubles by accident. I saw a DJ done all in black and white...it was stunning. On the to-do list! |
