Favorite Batting
What is your favorite batting to use for a lap quilt. I am making it for my grandmother to throw over her legs

100% Bamboo of you can find it and then afford it or i usually get a 50% Bamboo and 50% cotton mix its very soft and doesn't shrink much either .

I like warm and white because I use a lot of white and neutral fabrics and need a white batting. It is thin, even without thin spots or holes and holds up great after washings. It is the same as warm and natural which is jus in a little darker shade.

I am a fan of Warm and Natural or Warm and White... partially because it will hold up to preshrinking better than other cotton battings. You may want to consider a poly batting as they are warmer and lighter weight.

I prefer Hobbs 80/20 because it is lighter than W&N, has a softer feel and has a bit of puffiness.

I'm a Hobbs 80/20 most of the time. But on my DH quilt, I actually used the Hobbs black batting and it feels so much heavier and thicker. He loves it.

Hobbs wool. It's lightweight, breathable and easy to machine or hand quilt. Unless your grandmother has a wool allergy, you can't go wrong with this fiber.

I use W&N because I bought a roll of it. That said, I realy like the drape of Quilters Dream. Also want to try a silk batting but that would be for something really special due to $$. I did a lap quilt for my grandmother a number of years ago with 2 layers of W&N cuz Iwanted it to be warm for her. Hand qiulted that puppy as well. It came home to me after she passed away. I will say, after several washingsnit has held up well and not stiff at all. Also was not stiff when gifted.
