Another vote for the Shape Cut ruler. It didn't work with my 28mm rotary cutter, but fortunately another QB member (Barb!) hooked me up with a 45mm cutter and now I use it all the time. I can't cut a straight line to save my life, but the Shape Cut is so easy to use even I get beautiful straight cuts on grain every time. :)

Like Prism99 I use the gridlines ruler which really grips and you can select the width and just cut cut cut. I do also use the JT Shape Cut ruler and like that one too. I might have to look up the Stripology ruler, there really are always recommendations for that one here.

The above mentioned don't work for me. I bought an Alto's QuiltCut2 years ago. It is very versatile and does more than just strips. I can cut out squares, rectangles, diamonds, triangles, and more easily.

I have the Shape Cut pro and really like it. I keep a large cutting mat out at all times so the large size doesn't bother me and I store it under my bed.

I have the June Taylor strip cutter too and have the same problems as you stated. Went to my BOM class this past weekend and noticed she had a Creative Grid one sitting on the sidelines so talked to her about it and checked it out for myself. Its wider than our JT one, and its not supposed to slip due to the grips on the underside. So when my checkbook will permit it I'll be getting one of those.............probably in the next month or two as I like using this type of ruler for strip cutting. For the time being I found if I turned mine the other way I don't have as many chips on the starting area.

Just so there's no misunderstanding, what I use on my June Tailor mat to prevent slipping are these "grip strips":
