I was lucky enough to get my Grandmothers 40+ years ago. It's metal and fits me to a T! Pretty lucky I am~

I too use the leather thimble with the elastic, usually buy them when Joann's has the 50% off notions. I have never been able to use the "traditional" thimbles, even when I was younger and sewed clothes. Tried so many and finally tried the leather ones and I am able to use it.

I use a "clover" deerskin leather with a metal dimpled plate in it. I love it, it fits which ever finger I put it on. When it starts to be stretched out, I dampen it, throw it in the dryer, and it is like new. it is around $12. at fabric and craft stores.

Never thought about wetting and putting it in the dryer. What a good idea! Thanks!
