Thanks for this tip I am going to start using the 1" and trim from now on.

That is where the tut for doing the HST's Amma. What a great tut and great, quick method to make them. It is still in my head and I want to do a quilt using this method.

ok, I watched this method, and thought it to be a nice alternative, but how would you know what size starting squares you would use to end up with say 5.5" HST??

wow, thanks Amma!! I went to Missouri Quilt and learned the neat shortcut of holding the squares in half and pressing with iron each square on the diagonal..wow, that beats marking one of each pair with a ruler and a pen!! thanks for steering me to that video!!
Thanks so much for passing that on! I am still marking the back of the lightest square. This will save some time.

Me too, Pam. I'm not as brave as you and will square up only what goes into the block I am piecing. If I did 70, my "hinge" would have rusted shut!

I always go to the 1" or a little more and trim using a square-- very time consuming but HSTs are almost perfect this way.

I saw that same video. it was Missouri Quilt Co. I went to their web page but couldnt find it on there. I would sure like to find the video again

I just saw a video on there using the charm packs by Moda, it is under Easy Pinwheel, I think.

It was the Missouri Star Quilt Co. I saw it on Youtube. I just have to try it!
