My son saw this machine at a salvage and demo place he went to today, this is the only pic he took to show me. He actually brought me a nice 99 in the wood case, thinking that was the machine I was looking for! I think this has to be a Featherweight, he said the guy was asking 50.00. And he didn't buy it. He said it was "cream" color and was a Singer. Can anyone tell from this picture? The salvage place isn't open until Monday, I hope it is still there.

It's a Featherweight and that was a great price!!!!
Looks like it had attachments too! He should of bought it and you would of loved having it!
If you can get there early... Gooooooo buy it :) |
Buy Baby Buy!!!!!
It's worth at least $300.00. I just keep looking at this one and see that it has the original foot control as well as the light colored box. What a deal. It's worth getting repaired if it needs to be. Karen |
What a nice son to get you the 99 !!
Now run over Monday and get that Featherweight!! :D Be sure to let us know so we can all be jealous lol |

Thanks, I wil let you all know Monday if I get it. My son feels bad now, but I told him I love the 99, it's a 1925 model and we've got it sewing. He thought it looked older and more valuable and was the same price.
He sounds like a sweetheart, Mom!!
Be there before they open, so no one else gets it. What a buy!!!
I can only imagine how antsy you are until Monday so that you can go get this awesome Featherweight! You've got a fantastic DS!!!

It's a white/celery or a tan featherweight. I have one of each. Buy it fast!
YES!!! It's a white featherweight, probably made in Scotland. I have a white one, and that's the kind of case they came in. They are a little bit different from the black featherweights, but still are a featherweight.
Can he still get it? It is worth more than $50. Edit: For future reference, one key feature of a featherweight model 221 is the fold-up bed on the left side of the machine. No other Singer has that feature. Note: The featherweight model 222 has a removable bed (slides off to the left, creating a free-arm). These are much more rare than the 221 and worth even more. |
Buy them both - Cool
Where did he find 2 machines in one place? |
GET IT!!! GET IT!! Be there when the door opens on Monday, take the picture and $50 with you and grab it up. I paid over $200 for mine.
I have a white featherweight that was made in England, just like the one you are showing> It is a great little machine to use for classes.
I agree - BUY it! For even $300 bucks it is worth it.
Wow, hope you get it!!!!
Yup, the rest are right. This is a featherweight, they call them white, but they are actually a creamy white. I have one, it was made in England in 1964 (?).

I would be there bright and early Monday. Tell him the machine he got you is a beauty. His heart is in the right place.
Grab it! If I remember right the ones that aren't black are worth more money!
I sure hope no one tells him what hes got!!!! can you call him and see if he would meet ya..LOL
It looks brand new and so does the accessory box. What a steal. Let us see it when you get it.

The dream machine. Hope you get it. Good luck.
Yes it is! hope it there!
What a buy! I'm looking for a Featherweight. I love these old machines. I have 2 Singer 201-2's, a Singer 301-a and a Necchi Bu Supernova...love them all! Hope you get the machine!
I am jealous. I hope you get it!
oh I dream of finding one! Get it! Get it!
Be there when the store opens. What a buy I hope you get it.
Can't wait to see if you get it!!!
Yes it is a featherweight, a friend has two of these, she will leave them to her daughters someday. Right now she just uses them both.
I had one like that but gave it to my niece. I have a black one I wouldn't part with. The cream/white ones aren't worth as much as the black singer's. My sewing machine repair man said the white ones have a belt that can't be replaced if it breaks. The machine it made in a way that you can't get to the belt. It's still a good deal!
It's an awesome deal. Grab it! Congratulations from a person green with envy!!! Ah, I take back the envy part..........I'm very happy to see someone get such a lovely item at a great price! And depending where you are, the cream ones are more highly prized than the black....individual areas, individual opinions I guess. Enjoy! And post a bunch of pictures!
depends on if it runs. have him take it out and plug it in and see if it runs. then after he buys it, take it in for a cleaning, or do it yourself. there is probably a book with instructions on how to clean it. i do my own. ( no caps,, i had thumb surgery on monday)
I belong to a Yahoo Group called Vintage Singers...you can get all kinds of info on vintage Singer sewing Machines, download some of the manuals, learn how to repair/clean them, etc.
i googled featherweight sewing machines and found three that are going for about 300-400 dollars. these machines are from europe. that being said, they are wonderful machines. a friend has one that has a greenish cast of white, and it sews like a dream. have your son haggle a bit, he just might get it cheaper yet. obviously the seller has no idea what he has.
This is a featherweight!!!!Be there at dawn for that price. Let us know the outcome!!! Be Happy with the 99. I have one permanently set up at my house. I was sewing on mine this weekend. I have taught a ton of girl scouts using this machine. In the 35 years I have had it, I have never had to have it "tuned up".. I clean it about twice a year whether it needs it or not.
I would love a cream one...very hard to find...right lostn51
I have a tan/green FW. My was made in Scotland in 1964. It works like a charm. I always get any old machine serviced as soon as I get it. Just the setting for years with out use makes them stiff and dried out. Hope you get there in time tomorrow. Let us know.
