For the lucky posters that recently bought Featherweights or 301 Singer machines. Do not forget: The needle is threaded right to left! It will not sew threaded left to right. :?

Thank you for the tip! I haven't gotten a chance to do more than power up the one I bought.

Can you do FMQ on them?

I would never have known that, thanks for the tip :D:D:D

You can FMQ on the 301. It's perfect for that. I wouldn't do a lot FMQ on the Featherweight, it's not built for that.

Cool!!! I am looking forward to trying it on my next weekend off. I just need to get a darning foot for it.

I have a number of different machines I use throughout the house. I have a little sheet in each drawer on 'little quirks' each machine has. How to thread, which way the needle is threaded, which way the bobbin goes in, etc.

Hope it helps someone

Thanks for the info. My goal this year is to have my featherweight refurbished. I am thinking of buying the extension table. I think they are pretty cool.

Oh that feather weight is really cute!

Another thing to watch out for is when replacing the bobbin case if you've removed the throat plate. There is a position finger on the bobbin case and it has a slot that it goes into on the throat plate. Ask me how I know!!!

Yep, that little finger has to be in the right place! What I do is take a picture of how something looks each step as I take it apart. This works great for sewing machines you want to try and fix.
