Look at the model number and then go to this site http://www.singer-featherweight.com/...es/dating.html to determine when your FW was made.. up this site and there is not a model number to match the one on these. The model number is EV981958. Do you know when this model was made or where I can find out. |
Yep....it's an FW! the case probably had been stripped of it covering and that is why it's an bare wood case, but I like it!
If you seen an 222 for the price u mentioned....better grab it and RUN !! I want one soooo bad !! |
It reads 221 model..

I know the 222 has been going for around 250+ and even in the 300's depending on condition (I believe) The guy didnt list a serial number so I haven't a clue what it is. I will find out soon enough! The case is wood. In the pic, I cant tell either way. Hope you enjoy your new treasure. |

So I told her it was a fair price, paid cash and ran!!

Looks like one to me!!

Hi Gheto hound, Sure looks like mine, although mine is a 221. Hope you got a good deal on it. Mine has a black case which I am trying to get the musty smell out of. It's been a Gem, you'll love it!!!!!!!!!! peterparley

I have 2 FW that are beige/tan that has 221K on it and I pulled
up this site and there is not a model number to match the one on these. The model number is EV981958. Do you know when this model was made or where I can find out.[/quote] Your 221K was made in Scotland in 1964. |
Just like mine. Congratulations. Jo

You really got a good deal I just won a bid on bay tonight and I am paying double that.

Love the case.

I just read on another site that someone used Dr. School's odor eaters to get rid of the smell in the FW case.

If you got the 221 Featherweight that was on ebay, it said it doesn't run. You probably need a new foot pedal. They seem to go bad on featherweights. Sometimes, you can take the foot pedal/controls apart and fix it, but usually they have to be replaced.
Most of these machines are very easy to fix. Sometimes the motor has to be rewired, but not a big job. Good luck, Enjoy the machine |

Karen, Thanks for the tip on the "Odor Eaters" for my musty machine case. Try the grilled cheese sandwich with tomato, oregano(sprinkle) and a smidge of Parmesan. YUMMY peterparley

I am wondering about the carrying case--I had heard they were beautiful wood if stripped but have always been afraid to prove it.
|
Didn't know the featherweight 221 had a wooden case. Mine's a black one and I think smaller.
|
Looks like a featherweight to me. How awesome!!!

He let dd have it and when she moved out of state, she gave it to me, bc I oohed and ahhed over it one time when I was helping her with it. The cord frayed and needs to go to the hospital so it's been sitting in it's cabinet now, for a couple years. One of these days I've got to take her for a checkup and fix-up! So glad I looked in on this thread. ;) |
