I did the same thing last week, being new I dodn't know the acronyms either.
I have a Janome 1600 quilting machine and I am in love with it! |
Maybe i was having a senior moment, but when i rechecked my seams and measurements before and after moving the needle, the seams were right on.. I can get a good 1/4 seam with the 5.2 setting and a scant 1/4 with just a little adjustment. Thanks to all who advised. I love my Janome 6600!!

HI LADIES:
I HAVE A 6600 THAT I ABSOLUTELY LOVE. I SEW ON IT EVERY DAY AND HAVE BEEN FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS. I RARELY USE THE FOOT PEDAL, I HAVE ALL THE ATTACHMENTS TO MAKE THE JOBS EASIER. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS MACHINE TO ANYONE WHO WOULD LIKE A GOOD MACHINE WITH ALL THERE IS TO HAVE. HAPPY SEWING. JOANNE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE |
Now there is a vote of confidence!
i love mine too! |
Ok, I'm having issues again with mine-it's probably something that i'm doing or not doing. The last quilt that i quilted on it, it looked like i should've tightened the tension on it. so when i started on my Feb. UFO, i put it in Mode 2, stitch 11, pressure foot 1, and tension between 2 and 6. It looked awful! laddering everywhere! i got it to look better, but not like i wanted so i used my 9000 instead. any suggestions?

Try tightening the tension on your bobbin just a little bit. This worked for me. Marylou

sewmom,
Mode 2 stitch 11 is the very same as Mode 1 stitch 1 if you were unaware. As for the presser foot tension, they both recommend 3 not 1. Your stitch reg. was ok at between 2-6. Take your throat plate off, take your bobbin and holder out and check for any problems. Even a minute piece of thread will cause problems. Last nite I had real problems and found the bobbin holder was faulty and causing the problem. Had to order a new one today. Check your needle to be sure it is in correctly, flat side of the needle to the rear, needle size is correct, screw for needle is tight, make sure the foot holder screw is tight, were the feed dogs accidently dropped? I just scanned these three pages on tension into another forum here for another member as she was having issues with her tension. If you have your manual handy, check it. Mine is well used. I refer to it constantly because I don't want problems. Good luck. |
I discovered that there is a piece of invisible thread stuck in the tension knob. I can see it- i can grab it with the tweezers, but i can't pull it out. will probably have to take it in. Darn!
