Yippee! Enjoy!

I'm so happy for you. That new floor will make all the difference. Enjoy.

Sewfine 08-15-2011 07:03 AM

Congrats! I will be so exciting organizing and rearrange. Love to see pictures when you finish.

Nanaquilts44 08-15-2011 07:14 AM

I am so happy for you! I have my machine in a small bedroom with a large desk and grandkids toys. But I just was able to add a cutting table that folds to narrow size. I can only use half of it due to space but now at least I can cut fabric without killing my back!

Whatever flooring you install, get a telescoping magnet from your local hardware store. They're great for finding and picking up pins, etc. Saves lots of bending!
Yea for getting your own space - I know you'll love it.

BobbiG 08-15-2011 08:10 AM

Just remember: Walking to the ironing board is free exercise.

Meme2six 08-15-2011 08:11 AM

Congratulations on your new space! It's so wonderful to have an area that is all your own to retreat to and be able to think and create.

Stitchit123 08-15-2011 08:29 AM

Your next quilt should be done several hours faster now that you won't have to run to the ironing board. Those short trips usually had detours for me-

sharin'Sharon 08-15-2011 08:30 AM

I have the room, with quilting frame (not set up yet), but have to tear down the wall paper and put in a laminate floor. One of these days am hopeful to have my fabrics wrapped around coroplast and on shelves!! Dreamworld in the making.

Drew 08-15-2011 08:40 AM

Congrats on your new sewing room and space!!

debbieumphress 08-15-2011 08:52 AM

Have fun doing all this. It will be so worth it in the long run. Hope you take before and after pictures...we love that. gives us ideas too.

jljack 08-15-2011 08:56 AM

Your quilting projects will go so much faster when you have an organized work space. Every once in a while I have to stop working on projects and clean and re-organize all my "stuff".

GV09 08-15-2011 09:05 AM

I'm happy for you!
Although the process is tedious, sure to be happy in the end!
Enjoy the road!
A hug!

Brandi 08-15-2011 09:16 AM

We want to see pictures when you finish.

HollyInfinite 08-15-2011 09:21 AM

Awesome! I loved getting my own room, of course I have to use it for my office/work too but its nice to see all my fabric beside me and the pops of colors :)

Yahoo! So happy for you. I'm looking forward to the day when our basement remodel is done so I can have my sewing studio back. We've moved the stuff from the Wreckroom, office, and bar into the back basement where the laundry room and studio are and there's not much room in there now. I did manage to leave a pathway from cutting table to sewing machine to ironing board, but it's so cluttered with all the extra stuff I don't feel like sewing in there.
Once the remodel is done, then I'll be able to clean and reorganize the back basement and I think it will feel like we have doubled our living space.
Have fun in your new space!!

yesyoucan 08-15-2011 09:46 AM

oh that is about all the excercise I get.

I feel your bliss. I just lost my sewing room because #1 son is home again. That is okay because I would rather be able to offer son some transition housing.

MrsM 08-15-2011 11:00 AM

Good luck and happy sewing!

MargeD 08-15-2011 11:19 AM

I'm so happy for you. Don't know why you wouldn't want to keep the shag carpeting. Just kidding. I have carpeting in my sewing space and believe me, I would much rather have a solid floor, wood or laminate that would help me find the pins. I've had pins get stuck in the carpeting and then I get out of bed, forget to put my slipper on and step onto a pin or needle. Ouch - big time. Congratulations on gaining your own space.

Latrinka 08-15-2011 11:58 AM

WooHoo! Won't that be great!

Congratulations! I'd like to be pulling up those carpets in my room. But as far as the trips to the ironing board are concerned, I figure that's how I get my exercise.

BobbiSue2009 08-15-2011 12:43 PM

Enjoy your new space!

lollygagging 08-15-2011 12:55 PM

Wow, a dream come true! I'm so happy for you. Your inspiration will be running wild! Just think, with all that time saved from trips to the ironing board you'll be able to double you output! Congrats. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome! I have a room that I need to give up... not happy about that. I get a smaller space but I will prevail and have a larger room again. I have one left at home and when she is gone I will take control again!
