I have been sharing a very small room with a very large computer desk, a dresser, 2 filing cabinets and my sewing table. Today, after 10 years of sharing, I get the room all to myself. DD and family are coming to help me disassemble computer desk and move it out into the living room along with the two filing cabinets. Then hopefully will be able to pull up the 70's shag carpet (very difficult to sweep or find dropped pins) and put down some laminate. I am so excited! I will finally be able to put my ironing board close by the sewing machine - no more trips back and forth to the laundry room.

How wonderful and so much more room! I've got tile in my sewing room floor and love it. It is wonderful not to lose OR step on pins barefooted.

CONGRATS!! How exciting. Yes, it was bittersweet the day my son moved out. Sad and would miss him but jumping up and down because I finally get my craft room!

didi 08-15-2011 03:50 AM

Know what you are going thru, so happy for you...i'm in the bedroom, small corner. But we are adding on and I get a new sewing room..can't hardly wait, maybe by Nov or Dec. LOL

Robinmg 08-15-2011 04:32 AM

Yea for you. I still have to share mine with the computer, but at least I have room to put up my ironing board next to my machine.

gigi10 08-15-2011 04:50 AM

I think you will need a good organization, a new sewing table, some pretty baskets and a big one for trash. Paint it your favorite color, shop garage sales, go to the LQS, Of course now you "need" more fabric. In other words ENJOY.

DirtyPaw 08-15-2011 04:52 AM

Very cool and congrats.

Nancy S. 08-15-2011 04:55 AM

Fabaddict 08-15-2011 05:06 AM

Congratulations! however, you might want to rethink moving the ironing board - it gives you exercise daily. LOL

jeanneb52 08-15-2011 05:08 AM

My sewing room is my pride and joy as yours will be. It's great to have a place of my own, messy and cluttered but mine! Have fun. Have a great time setting up.

SuzyQ 08-15-2011 05:10 AM

Dolly's sister 08-15-2011 06:29 AM

Yippeee, we all deserve our own space to quilt. Enjoy.

Iraxy 08-15-2011 06:31 AM

Congratulations. I finally convinced my DH into clearing up his computer mess in my sewing room. For 15 years I have had to share a very messy computer area (he cannot see it is messy and cluttered for some reason) and last weekend he could not find his taxes and had to admit it was out of control. Yippee. Although we still cannot see his desk, I can put up my cutting table and have a place to iron! I guess good things do come to those who wait. Who knew I had such patience LOL.
