Hand quilting thread has a coating that will strip off and gum up your tension disc. If you used a lot of it, then use floss and clean out your tension disc.

welcome to the quilting club dawn and what a great effort for your first time making a quilt. i do want to make one suggestion, i am not sure what type batting you used but check to see what the recommendations are on how far apart you need to quilt it. some of the first quilts i made (for family) were big block quilts and on a couple of them i didn't do enough quilting in the blocks for the batting recommendation. i didn't realize this until i became more familiar with quilting. so i retrieved the quilts to add some additional "embellishments" to anchor the batting better.
the embellishments were as simple as bar tacking bows in the middle of the blocks or using buttons or decorative stitches to anchor the batting better. my family members were none the wiser.:thumbup: |
