NOW THAT SOUNDS LIKE A FABULOUS Christmas! I love the "auction" with the fake money and the gifts were priceless. I can only imagine what a great Christmas that was. TY for sharing.

We then had an auction and were able to bid on the things they had to offer----coupons for a "dinner at the farm" we could choose what mom fixed, an afternoon of dad helping clean our garage or basement, a coupon for an oil change from dad, one for a tire rotation, there were also jars of homemade jam, loaves of homemade bread, bags of mom's noodles, pies, etc. It was one of the best and most memorable Christmas' ever. We had such fun bidding against each other. Mom and dad loved seeing their gifts bring in outrageous amounts like $500-$700 for the last jar of jam, $800 for an oil change and so on.

Christmas doesn't have to cost a lot to be enjoyable.

We are all so blessed in so many ways.....and I am thankful for friends from this board as well! I have learned so much about all kinds of things, and most importantly see and feel that there are friends out there that will give their time, talents, thoughts, help, whatever is needed to help anyone!!!

I especially like the "auction" someone mentioned also!!! What fun!!!! Those gifts are the best, and the ones that will be rememeber forever...PRICELESS!!! I will try to do that with my family!!!!

Merry CHRISTmas!!!!! and blessing to all!!!!

This is most interesting. I love the fact that more & more people are making Christmas less stressful.

We have for several years made a large necessities box for each of our 2 kids & families....things like Kleenexes, cleaners, tooth brushes, socks, bandaids, light bulbs, shoe strings, kitchen towels, hot pads, Vicks, shaving cream,
shop towels, Charmin, tooth paste, large containers of Tide, diabetic candy, nuts. We find out some of their favorite
brands & pick them up during the year.......extension cords, small gifts - it's fun to do and they love it.

PS we don't have to mail them.
