First Aid Kit at Guilds
 

At guild the other day while doing quilts for our community I put a pin through my finger, and it wouldn't stop bleeding. I asked for a first aid kit since I didn't have a band aid and was surprised to find out we didn't have one. I will be putting one together for our guild to keep in with our ironing boards and be brought out for each meeting. We are a teaching guild and do projects while there and I had never thought about needing one.

That's a good idea. Never know when someone may need a band aid or some burn cream. I would also put the address of the meeting place on the outside of the box. Then if something horrible happens and 911 is called, no one has to think about "what is the address here?"

Yes, that is a good idea. I have band aids in my kit for myself or anyone else who might need one.

As a 911 Dispatcher that is a great idea!! Don't know how many times I have taken a call and the person didn't have a clue what the address was. Nine times out of ten if you call from a land line the address will come up on screen but if you use a cell phone and it doesn't map correctly...we will be playing 50 questions trying to figure out where you are.

.......... worse still, the injuries that can result from our rotary cutters!

.... to take the initiative and put together a first aid kit, and not just focus on your own time of need.
Be sure that it is checked regularly, and restocked, as needed.

I don't remember where I first heard the idea of having your address posted in your home. If there's an emergency, I may forget my own address but especially the address of a friend or relative. The same holds true for places like churches or businesses. I know how to get there but I don't know the street number.

We have file card box with every member's contact numbers in our first aid box. Also clean white terry wash cloths have come in handy when blood is involved. We buy a bundle at Walmart to keep in the box. Standard bandages and Neosporin, burn cream or spray, and antiseptic wash with pain relief. We had a beginner who cut her finger with a rotary cutter. It was bad. The guild and owners of the meeting room were almost sued by her. She stated that she wasn't informed of any safety device to be in use when using a rotary cutter. Insurance companies settled. What a mess. No one cuts at our meetings with out a safety tool. We have gloves, grips, and Slidelocks. We almost lost our meeting place. Remember anyone can sue for anything now and many will.

I guess I was around my father so long, he had a first aid kit for every room in the house, yes bedrooms included. We had to know at least beginning first aid. He had a first aid kit in his shed, garage, one in the kitchen, bathroom and even our bedrooms. I have one in each of my totes, busy bags and each purse. Small pain relief bottles,.bandaids, my car, the hubs vehicles. Of course my sewing room his workshed. Even if you only have them in a Ziploc bag. It works. Great idea concerning the addresses.

Never thought about that. Especially with rotary cutters, a first aid box would be very handy. I have an extra small kit from our Cub Scout days. I am going to take it to Guild to see if it can be put in the Guild's Library storage. Thank you, it won't stop a severed arm but sometimes a bandaid is handy to have around.
