The tag doesn't show up very well, but gives you an idea of what I do with them.

Hope you are giving this to someone who will appreciate your work!

Nice gift!

no1jan 04-09-2011 03:00 PM

Very nice, I may have to borrow your poem if it's alright with you!

rannyof3 04-09-2011 03:10 PM

6 X 9. I did two others, but am having a H*&% of a time with binding. I HATE BINDING...

rannyof3 04-09-2011 03:10 PM

Anyody is welcome to the poem....

QuiltE 04-09-2011 03:16 PM

Thanks for the sizing!

Think of it as the Mug Rugs being a good way to learn to do binding ... I used to hate it, and now find it quite relaxing and a nice change of pace. After all it's the "crowning glory" of the quilt!

That is just adorable...what a great idea!

MissQuilter 04-10-2011 05:01 AM

I have made several mug rugs, and a couple of them I just used the sew and turn right side out technique. No binding, quilted a quarter inch or so inside the edge. It looks fine and skips the whole binding thing. Just have to hand stitch the opening closed...... Just an idea to try.

nabobw 04-10-2011 05:29 AM

cute

rocklady 04-10-2011 05:31 AM

This is the way I do it too. I'm not good at bias tape. I made several for Christmas gifts with a note as to what they were. The non-sewers look at you kind of funny until they find out what to do with them. They are sooo fun to make.

bonnielass 04-10-2011 06:17 AM

Rannyof3, I love your words may I copy and use them for my rug mugs? Thanks for an answer.

GGrammie 04-10-2011 06:33 AM

How nice..I love it.
Great for gift giving.

purrfectquilts 04-10-2011 06:48 AM

I loved your tag and thought you did a great job on this mug rug. Once you do the binding thing a few times, it will be easy. It is like making a pie...do it every day for two weeks ... and you can do it for life.

Or, you could forget the binding, stitch a bit from the edge, clip like a rag quilt, and have a fuzzy chenille edge.

Very cute idea.

QuiltE 04-10-2011 07:34 AM

A question here ...
For the batting are people using regular batting?
Or the special insulated one to avoid heat going thru?

OneMoreQuilt 04-10-2011 07:55 AM

Great idea! I see Christmas gifts for my grandson's teachers. Thanks for sharing.

Change "something" to "sweet" or "meat" and you have a rhyming poem!
