here are some pics of my quilt.still need to practice on cutting my squares so my points will have a point..my first mistake is forgetting to add the the 1/2 inch seam to my sash..I wanted a 2 1/2 inch finished sash but I cut it 2 1/2 instead of 3 inch..tips are welcomed. will not be offended.
Thank you
Loretta

looking good, love the colors

Looking good! I really like your little corner stones, they set off the blocks very nicely :D:D:D

littlehud 06-29-2011 04:28 PM

That is so pretty. I think you are doing a great job.

quiltjoey 06-29-2011 04:34 PM

What's a little point matter anyway! The quilt police would have a ball with my poorly cut points!! Love your quilt! It looks like a garden trellis with beautiful flowers on it to me...

cjomomma 06-29-2011 04:37 PM

This is going to be very pretty. Don't worry about any mistakes, you will get better and better over time. I can't wait to see the finished quilt.

irishrose 06-29-2011 04:54 PM

The colors are wonderful - the piecing is very good and I like the sashing cut that width. You'll figure the corner blocks out before the next round. If not, it still is will be pretty.

lscho4jm 06-29-2011 04:56 PM

My only tip would be to give it to me when you finish it. :-D :D

ssnare 06-29-2011 05:03 PM

So pretty! And are the blue flowers on the right appliqued or embroidered or something else? They really steal the show - who will notice chopped off points? :)

JulieR 06-29-2011 05:29 PM

How pretty! I love those colors.

I am no help at all with points, and so what about the sashing - so it's a little smaller, who would know? ;)

Dina 06-29-2011 05:39 PM

I like it. It is just plain pretty!

machine embroidery..the hearts will be on the four corners and the middle row.

Focus on the end result, not the steps to get you there! It looks nice, nobody would notice if you don't point it out. Good color choices!!

butterflies5518 06-29-2011 06:11 PM

think this is very pretty

DawnMarie 06-29-2011 06:13 PM

I like the little blue heart appliques. Are you going to do that to each of the blocks?

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 06-29-2011 06:17 PM

I think you are off to a good start. Even with precise cutting, I find point vanishing if I'm not very mindful of the quarter in seam. I have found a seam guide of some type really helps me out. It can be anything as long as it gives you a straight edge the right distance from your needle.

Also, I have toremind myself that some blocks pieces look "funny" until they are assembled. I keep wanting to trim things until it's perfect and then when I sew it together the points are gone because the funny looking part was the seam allowance.

Keep going. It will be pretty when it is finished and ever seam sewn will help improve your skills.

kheliwud 06-29-2011 06:25 PM

Lovely! I wouldn't worry about the mis-cut. Who's going to know? Please post a completed pic so we can oooh and ahhh!

love it

dreamgirl 06-30-2011 05:21 AM

Very pretty! Love the colors too. Once you get it finished, you'll love it and won't notice the little mistakes. I think every quilt I've made has some kind of little mistake in it, but that's ok, love them anyway. ;-)

mimee4 06-30-2011 05:50 AM

The blue flowers appliqued show off the rest of the quilt nicely. Enjoy the process of making this quilt. It looks great.

rvsfan 06-30-2011 06:39 AM

Love the green sashing and the cornerstones are just the right touch.

quiltmom04 06-30-2011 06:58 AM

Looks like your heading in the right direction! Sometimes I will draw a finished block - like your cornerstones - on graph paper to make sure I add enough for the seam allowances and don't cut off points. It helps alot to visualize as your sew. Keep at it - it's looking good!

luvstoquilt 06-30-2011 07:37 AM

Very pretty...looks great just as it is.

Linda71 06-30-2011 07:38 AM

Love the colors

teacherbailey 06-30-2011 08:18 AM

LOve the blue hearts/flowers on the one block....you're doing a great job and I also love the sashing you chose.

RobertaMarie 06-30-2011 01:18 PM

Looks great to me! Worry about points only if you are entering a contest. I quilt for fun and love, don't you? You are learning with every quilt, so keep it up. You are doing great. :-)

Tweety2911 06-30-2011 03:46 PM

Been there and done that. No matter, no quilt police here. What sweet fabrics. Once it's finsihed and quilted you will love it as is. I look forward to seeing this one done.

Latrinka 06-30-2011 05:22 PM

Loving it! Very pretty!

madamekelly 06-30-2011 06:22 PM

To keep my points on my quilt squares when I started out, I was told to cut them a little bigger than I wanted them to be, that way you can trim them to size. It's is impossible to add more if your stitching, cutting, seams, etc. are not big enough. I still do that for certain patterns that might 'fight' with me.
