I havent before, but I bet it would work great, and OOOOOHHHH, would it be SOFT AND WARM!!!!!!!!!!
|
I have never tried the spray basting but I will now lol
|
I spray baste with the fleece and have never had a problem quilting them on my machine. I just did a lap size with 2 layers of fleece and love how it turned out.

Thanks for the answers. My soon to be SIL likes fleece blankets but doesn't like quilts with cotton backing. I'm going to try fleece on the back of quilt and see if that works better. I just keep thinking "silly boy"

I make blankets that are fleece on one side and flannel on the other. I break it into sections (top, middle, bottom), and sew an X to anchor both together. That way it doesn't bunch or move around. I have pretty good success with that method.

I'm making a quilt for my 1-1/2 yo GD, with a cotton top, and fleece back (no batting), and am planning to stitch in the ditch, but wasn't sure what to do about binding. Can I do a normal separate, cotton binding, sewing it to the front and hand-sewing it to the back? |
I have done two quilts with cotton tops, no batting and fleece backing.
After SITD, I do the binding the same as on any other quilt. I use a separate cotton strip. I sew the binding to the back of the quilt and wrap it around to the front and top stitch it down. It turns out great. |
I use fleece on a lot of quilts & never had a problem with it stretching. I have sold several denim photo quilts with fleece backing & everyone loves them. They are very warm. I do use the spray basting & a few pins, but not many. Once it is quilted, I just square it off leaving enough of the fleece around the edges to fold over & zigzag down.
