I usually go to Google for my inspiration. You can instantly see what other quilter's have done with panels. Also visit the manufacturer's website because they produce designs to use with their panels.

Look at the free patterns offered by many of the fabric companies. They often use panels and showcase creative ways to use them. You will probably need to make some blocks to get it to a usable size. One of my favourites is My Lil' Buckaroo by Shannon Fabrics which finishes at 54" x 70".
Timeless Treasures has tons of free downloads for their panels. www.ttfabrics.com sandy |

In blocks of the week and month, there is a whole medallion quilt section. Took a center medallion or panel and built around it. Many pages of work displayed and lots of various ideas. Maybe that could help you out a bit. Dollyo that first quilt is singing my song Just beautiful.
Oh, found it, I think: http://www.quiltingboard.com/blocks-...g-t236801.html |

Thanks for that website, Sandygirl... although it pretty much makes me want to buy MORE panels LOL! Actually, I am a total panel addict so I do appreciate the free resources.
In case anyone is looking for a book on using panels, I have two, and I really enjoy both of them. The first is "Learn to Quilt with Panels" by Carolyn Vagts, published by Annie's Attic. Lots of great information and a beautiful gallery of quilts made from panels. The second book is "Panel Play" by Barbara Becker. This one is a bit more sophisticated than the previous book, and relies a lot on worksheets and calculations to set up the design. |
the Man Quilter (associated with Missouri *) has a tutorial on using some blocks and theme fabrics to make a quilt.

I just made a quilt using a panel, do a search for panel quilt ideas and you will find many .

I am doing one right now with a panel surrounded by Under and over blocks in batiks. It couldn't be easier.

Check the selvage and see who the mfr is. Usually, the mfr will have a free pattern. Another option is the book "9-Patch Pizzazz," that has patterns for panels. See if your library has it.
