Hardwood. Much healthier all around and less painful. Much prettier also.

Ah, but pins will travel on a hardwood floor. When I made that decision, I was torn between marmoleum (which comes in incredible colors and is very soft underfoot) and carpet. I took all sorts of carpet samples home and tested them by dropping pins on them from a few feet up. The very best, to me, was a very short pile, light cream carpet. Nothing gets lost in it, a lot of pins land standing up, and - best of all - since there are no kids running in and out, it stays nice and clean. I didn't pay a lot per square yard. You do need the clear chair pads, though.
We have a lot of hardwood and love it, but this is a warm, soft look. Hugs, Charlotte |
Hardwood or laminate.

I prefer carpet because my chair doesn't move all over the place. It stays put. Besides I live in an apt!)

Well, i just moved my sewing room from the hardwood one to the carpeted room, which is larger and has more outlets. I would have leaned toward the hardwood floor but I admit that I am enjoying the quieter and the comfort of the low pile carpet. So.....i am neutral at this point.
i would vote vinyl plank tho. Much quieter than the hardwood and laminate floors. Is that an option for you to consider? sandy |
i love hardwood and the ease of cleaning it. in my current apt., i have industrial type carpet and that is acceptable, too.

I have laminate in mine - ripped out the carpet. Hard to roll the chair. Easy to lose pins. Too much dust and allergens.
|
My sewing room has vinyl tile. Gives a bit of cushioning yet still easy to clean and to find all those dropped pins. Lol!

I vote for hardwood. Have laminate in my present one, which I have enjoyed. Will have hardwood in the house we're moving to next month. My chair rolls from the cutting table to the ironing board to the sewing machine. Prefer the hard surface to carpet.

Do the chair rollers damage a laminate hardwood floor??
