Flooring question--need help!

Hubby is finishing construction on our house. This phase includes my sewing space.
Do I want carpet or hardwood floors???
please give me your opinion on why I might want one over the other. I have about 24 hours to decide. Thanks for your help.

Hardwood. Too hard too get thread & little fabric snippets out of carpet.

Definitely hardwood! Think of all those little threads and dropped pins - so easy to just sweep up after a sewing session, whereas pins can get worked down into the carpet and are difficult to get out. Congratulations on your new sewing space!

What is the under flooring? If it is cement slab then I would go either carpeting or wood laminate with the cushion and vapor barrier under neath for warmth. If you have a heated basement under neath, then go with something firm so you don't get marks from your chair rolling or your cupboard containing your fabric stash. I like the carpet in my sewing room because it cuts down on the threads traveling outside the room.

NO CARPET!! agree with all the above, chairs hard to roll too.

I avoided carpet in our new house. Our old one had it and it seems like every pin I dropped either got immediately lost in the carpet or landed sharp end up, just waiting for an unsuspecting bare foot to step on it.

Anything Except CARPET! Bare floors are so much easier to keep clean with all the threads. Pins in carpet are hard to find, there are so many reasons.... I would give about anything to Not have carpeting in my sewing room

Definitely hardwood!

Definetly hardwood or a wood laminate. Nooo carpet. Easier to use a swifter to clean up loose threads. Carpet is a thread catcher and you will be vacuuming forever.

Go for the hardwood. Much less painful and healthier in the long run. You would have to use a magnet to get all of those missing pins and needles out. The rest would be found by your toes. Invest in some dusters.
