With this leaf one, you appliqué the stained glass looking color pieces on top of the fabric covering the foam.Through all layers. So, I don't think plastic canvas would work for this one. Haven't made the other yet though. So not sure about its construction.

I use a bit lighter fusible (950 shirtweight). It still gives the poof but is easier to turn. I also prefer the 6" finished square. I can turn these by sticking my finger in, but, I got a hemostat and everything turns so easy. Its gripping action really saves my finger joints. I just completed a dozen more for a christmas fair, I find them addictive!

my hemostat is difficult for me to use. i just need to get used to how it works i'm sure. Good luck. I too have this pattern. got the foam squares for the other wreath. not thrilled with them so far.

I used Pellon fusible Thermolan I got at Hobby lobby with a coupon. I have had surgery on both hands and have Arthritus(SP) and they went together fine for me.

For those using a very stiff interfacing (or the plastic canvas), may I suggest that you make your squares (or hexagons), turn the inside out and then push the interfacing in. I would make the opening as wide as possible, cut the interfacing a 1/2" smaller that the finished square, curl the interfacing and push it in. This would allow you a flat area to topstitch 1/8" without hitting the canvas but would not let the interfacing shift around. This might help those who have a problem with the turning. But, I find the 950 stiff enough (when I finish, I usually iron with best press using a small ham) and it is very poofy.

Yes, it is a little challenging but I have made 4 so far. Please excuse the picture quality of this one. It was a test run for me.

I have the pattern and the Bosal squares. I haven't started it yet.
